Half man half biscuit :grinning:

Enjoyed this.

Iā€™ve heard of Leftfield. Never listened to them. What album do I need to go to first?

Leftism

As @r0bh says, Leftism

It possibly is my favourite album of all time.

Iā€™m more into songs, rather than albums, but this is just a glorious soundscape that covers so many dance genres in one album

The follow up had a couple of stand out tracks (Phat Planet, Dusted, Africa Shox) but didnā€™t feel as coherent.
A Final Hit on the Trainspotting soundtrack is a nice piece of chilled electonica and they did the score for Shallow Grave.

They split after the second album and now one of the members has released new stuff, but itā€™s not a patch on that first album.

I remember in 2010 the one guy did some tour dates and I stood for 9 hours at the front of a festival (the first hour I was the only one there) to see them play live, they do have live instruments as well as the sequencers, and within the first 90 seconds I was transported back to 1995.

Saw them a few times after that and they did the whole album thing a few years back as his way of saying goodbye to the old material.

They never really took off in the same was their contemporaries - Prodigy, Orbital, The Chemical Brothers - but I still revisit the live album all the time.

Fun fact - they, or in truth their soundsystem, was banned from Brixton academy for making plaster from the ceiling fall down due to the bass

Never really listened to Leftfield either, but love that track!

When the vocals first kicked in, I though for a moment that they had sampled LimpBizkit!!!

The album version is more subtle, but the in live version when MC Cheshire Cat (no lie) says ā€œTurn this up lowderā€ they turn up the sub bass and every part of your insides just start vibrating

Thanks @funkster & @r0bh

Will have a listen today :ok_hand:t2:

I know what you meanā€¦ I was really into Trance and early rave in the late 80ā€™s and was lucky enough to see KLF after theyā€™d just started dropping the Justified ancients historyā€¦ and they were doing some heavy stuff like Last Train to Transcentral, and then Chill Out, which had bass that melted your diaphragm!

I donā€™t know why but I thought John Lydon was involved in Leftfield?

He did vocals on one track on Leftism
