5Ks in 2021/22/23 - How Low Can You Go?

Check the T&Cs. I think it’s 30 day returns if they’re used, 60 days if not used but that may be asics.

I felt that on my initial recce run, felt loose and no idea if they fit etc. Then I raced in them and did very well, didn’t think too much of it at the time just let my ego think I was a good runner.

Now in hindsight I think there was a huge benefit from shoes, especially after my 5k new year attempt which was pretty much same as 10k pace in a Triathlon wearing the 4%

Me too. Did one on Jan 2nd at 21.40 and keep promising myself I’ll do one a month but my head isn’t in the fast game right now.

We’re pretty even from Jan then, mine was 21:3x iirc

The extra red blood cells and mitochondria from all that easy running came in handy today

1st Jan - 4.99km - 18:25
27th Feb - 5.01km - 18.12 (Strava gave me a 18:09 5km)

3:42 / 3:37 / 3:35 / 3:40 / 3:36

Av HR 150
Max HR 157

Age grade - 78.4

Only ever run faster than that twice (that I can find)

Assume you mean 27th Feb?

Based on the training that I have seen over the winter. Come the summer and some more interval based training I would expect this time to come down significantly

Waiting for that head to head at the parkrun in June, assuming your mortal enemy turns up!

I’ve promised to pace a mate to his first sub 18 next week. He’s been training really hard. I’ve, errrr, not.

I’m actually a bit worried that I’ll not be of any use! :joy: May have to go pro pacer style and drop out after 3 or 4 km instead!

What’s the returns policy on those nikes again, and how long to get here?!

Yeah yeah sandbagger, sub 18 will probably just be a tempo sesh for you cos we can all just rock up and run sub 18

I’m sure he’ll be there…topless as usual

Think I’ve only done 4 speed sessions all year

Yeah, now is not the time particularly if an IM is still on the cards.

I am thinking a cheeky attempt on a sunny still day in September after a couple of months of warm weather training

Think IM is 50:50 at this point with how Germany is right now.

MK marathon on 3rd of May is about 75:25 with the guidance from England Athletics
