Alright…Part Timer! :yum:

Busted

I’d be dead on the floor if I had to wait until like 8pm! Plus that’s normally my running time.

Yeah - I’ve slowly graduated from 5pm to 7-7:30pm.
Mainly with working (when I do) away from home - leave client site at 1730, quick gym and shower, client/colleague meals out at 1930.

Don’t care about ogling the WAGs, it’s a fun past-time.

You’re all making me well hungry for some cheese and wine now…it’s also steak for supper this evening

Didn’t go for wine in the end…

…went to Waitrose and found they had these back in stock

(For the gin, innit)

I love wine. But I’m a philistine really. I buy what’s on offer in the supermarket and drink it by the gallon.

Love red wine, and quite like white. Like champagne too. Prosecco is a bit too sweet. I like French red myself, not big on new world stuff. Bordeaux for me all day long.

My greatest wine memory was on honeymoon we stayed in Venice. Our hotel had a roof top seating area looking across the entrance to the grand canal. They would bring the wine up with some olives and nibbles and you could watch the world go by. There was a wine, no clue what but it was white with a very slight fizz. Not a proper sparkling wine, had a normal cork , but a hint of fizz. Was very nice.

Had a nice glass of Wollemi that I mentioned above with my lunch today. It really is hard to beat on a sunny afternoon.

My wine last night was average. But disappointed to be fair. That reminds me. Need to get something in the fridge for tonight!

had a nice bottle of vermentino last night - BBQ tonight and sleeping in our motorhome (on the drive) for the Great British Campout for the NHS

if anyone is interested

I got into wine about ten years ago, like you wanted to expand my knowledge, wondered what the fuss was about but after experimenting and drinking a lot of wine I’m afraid that I found that mostly it came down to price. Too cheap I won’t like, too expensive I probably won’t like. And Lord save me from Merlot.

The words Pouilly Fumé, St Emilion, Pouilly-Fuissé, definitely fire neutrons in the pleasure centre and strangely I love the word Grenache even though it’s definitely not my favourite grape. But Zinfandel can be a great drinker.

More broadly speaking I like Italian reds even though it’s hard to find a good one, French and Argentinian are much more reliable.

I have an Italian Primitivo discounted from Waitrose and in the half case from LW I have Sauv Blanca from Moldova, Australia, France, South Africa and Romania, £56 delivered.

Ooh, might look into that :+1:

I’m actually growing some bacchus, because of the English wines I’ve had.

There’s a cracking little vineyard about 500m away from the house. The do a lovely bacchus based white. Unfortunately the owners are a proper bunch of weirdos! They make you somehow feel like you’re inconveniencing them when you go to buy wine. How odd!

Right, had the wine section to myself just now.
After a day of removing picture hooks, filling, sanding and painting, I need a wine!!!

I have had some good Stellenbosch reds, not tried white. Let us know?

I’ve had it a few times before :see_no_evil:
It’s decent.
It’s not a Chablis, but it’s half the price and sinks down an absolute treat!

I’ve got a very unusual white today, and it’s bloody lovely.

Two rare Sicilian grapes in an (apparent) one of a kind blend - catarratto and zibibbo. Not heard of either before, but it’s going down a treat.

The best Italian white I’ve had was in Sardegna , Vermentino di Gallura, from the Costa Smeralda region. I dont know brands or anything, just got into it when recommended locally. Not found it in the UK in a supermarket, but you could probably pick it up from a specialist.

I barely drink nowadays. Having conquered excess drinking years ago now, I rarely drink, but I do very occasionally just to prove I can. (I can go months to years without alcohol with zero issue).

I have to say though that while I like a Bordeaux I also like Barolo. A Californian Cab I once had was really nice.

My problem is that I have a bargain basement budget, but enjoy complex tastes! Still it can be useful esoteric training (but I won’t bore you with the whys and whatnots).

Excellent spot, unfortunately not in mine. Will do an online shop for it at some point in the future.
