You can set the best temperature & much quicker to heat up.
Seems like overkill to me.
I don’t have exact temp setting on my one of those, or maybe it’s just hidden?
Would a sous-vide not be even more perfect then? And you get to cook your fancy arse steaks, rather than just make shit loads of stock and yoghurt with the instant pot?
Pass, I’ve not got one yet just ordered on when I saw it was on offer but it’s what Josh uses and he was full of praise for it on the waxing vid. Maybe he has shares haha.
Actually he does a comparison side by side with sous vide which is fine just takes a long time.
I got one of these, it does take a while to melt but I turn it on when I go out to the shed and start cleaning etc and it’s ready by the time you need it. It was also one of the smallest I could find as space is at a premium.
That what i bought for this, it does the job.
Does anyone else have issues with lots of small wax balls coming off the chain? I’m riding indoors and end up with a lot of little bits of wax all over the floor. It could be because that chain hasn’t done many km since it was waxed.
Yeah I only get that on the turbo. Out on the road it must just fly off
Does it stop, do I need to do something different for an indoor chain or just put something down to protect the floor? They don’t sweep up nicely.
I’ve only really noticed it after the first few rides after a fresh wax. My bike/turbo get packed up after every use so I always have to cleanup after myself
I get it too. All you can do is to try & wipe as much excess off as possible when it comes out of the pot. The wax on the outside is not helping anyhow.
It was less bad today compared to yesterday. Hoping it’s just the excess coming off.
Any links of recommended styles, based on what you have and what shows as available on Amazon? Sorry if I missed links, but couldn’t find them in a search.
Do you have a version that can only take chains, or can you get bigger ones that can take the biggest sprocket cassette block? Cleaning the individual sprockets is easy enough, apart from those final 3 or 4 sprockets clumped together.
Can get a cassette in that
Thanks!
I’ll take a pic once I’m home so you can get an idea on size.
I’ve used it with water and degreaser to clean a couple of cassettes
That would be great. Having some more space in the new year will finally allow for some proper “home brewing” (aka waxing). I have the slow cooker my mum got me about 3 years ago already. Seeing as it’s only been used once for cooking, I might as well repurpose!
Mine’s a 2.5L one, plenty big enough for cassette, derailleurs etc. but can’t get crankset in it (although they’re pretty easy to clean anyway.
It’s also got a heater built in which is handy as they clean better with hot water and it saves boiling the kettle separately to fill it up.
