Commuting & Winter Riding Thread

Posh in what way? Aluminium/tiagra. There’s no cutting edge tech in here (some internal cabling is about as good as it gets).
£15 plastic lifeline mudguards (cause they blend in… and I hate mudguards).

£850 from March 2016 (I do try and look after stuff mind).

Nowt wrong with it… just lower down the “posh” scale innit? :grinning:

It’s just clean really, who cleans their commuter bike?

Well… it went into lockdown for 18 months after I assume a wet commute - so when it finally came into the light it needed a bit of TLC.
I’m much better at cleaning frames than doing actual maintenance :grinning:

Been fortunate with the weather last few weeks too - so its still looking alright.

I’m no bike snob!

It looks really nice. :+1:t3:
Clean lines, clean logos, clean bike.

Just bought these from Planet x. The Optimistically titled “Ultimate Glove”
They’re great for spring and autumn. Decent quality too, but do fit a bit small.

Anyone ever used something like this:

or would the ass saver type one do just as good a job / better? There’s not much difference in price, and i’m buying some tyres at the moment anyway

or this type? Looks like i don’t need frame mounts for this one.

I’m pretty sure I had something similar to the first one. From memory it was ok… tho I do recall it bouncing on the tyre as it had a lot of flex (obviously you could move it higher - but - it looked sh1t!)

I got the equivalent lifeline guards but with mounting options (not sure if this was cause the other one annoyed me, cause I wanted a front guard or cause I got a new bike and now had mount options!)
LifeLine Narrow Road Mudguard Set | Fixed Mudguards | Wiggle - they’ve been on 5 years now. Don’t rub, rattle and blend in fairly well thanks to the amazing black plastic!!
It does offend my OCD a little as no matter how much I tired when fitting I couldnt get the guards straight and the struts parallel.

Similar to the second clip on guards for me, SKS race blade or something like that, pretty quick release for the days it’s almost guaranteed to be dry. No rattles and simple to set up. Not as cheap though, more like £20 in a sale iirc

I’m 99% sure i don’t have mouting points on my Endurace.

But cheers both

No - more to reference cheap as chips Lifeline stuff has lasted well :ok_hand:

First proper winter commute this morning. Was ‘kin freezing with a bit of drizzle. Time to swap the bib shorts for tights.

Yes, first time I’ve had knee warmers on. Was bloody cold

Same here, with the exception of the lobster gloves (which only come our for sub zero) it was pretty much the full winter kit this morning.
