FP's stupidly short marathon prep

Pfft!!!
3:22 appears reasonable

I’d agree with @Tupperware
No speedwork.
Long run and a medium run.
Then an hour run.
And some easier jogs (30-45mins)

You knocked out 21km this weekend, so start your long run there.
Medium run 67% of that (so 14km now)

Mon: 30mins easy
Tue: 1hr MP
Weds: 30mins easy
Thus: medium run (67% of long run)
Fri: rest
Sat: 45mins MP
Sun: long run

The two 30min runs could be swapped for XT/turbo/core etc

you think a weeks prep is bad. I’ve just signed up to 10 laps of an airfield just to get a marathon in this year

Please tell me it’s not Swindon airfield???

Elvington near York. Why is there one at Swindon too or is that a particularly boring airfield?

Thanks. Definitely only looking for 4 runs p/w but can adjust that plan accordingly

Did a Duathlon there, on my birthday, in 2008/9.
It snowed.
It was freezing. Desolate. Boring.

You can add Oulton Park, Donington and Prestwold Hall to that list.

at least with some of those you’d have an actual course and not a circular loop…

105 laps of the track?
Ha ha ha :see_no_evil::wink:

Soz pal :see_no_evil:
I couldn’t do it.

I despise loop courses.

I’ve actually thought about doing that as I think that would be a more interesting challenge. But I think all those left turns are a bit of a injury risk. It’s a lot of one way leaning!

They normally swap directions periodically…so no excuse! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve heard, its usually at half way in those stupid 24 hour challenges :joy:

I was up for Endure 24 this year (deferred to next), curious to see how close I could to 100 miles in 24hrs but now having a slot in next year’s SDW100 on the same weekend, it’s no contest to which I’d rather do.

I’m now 60:40 for entering this

I see your 8 week prep and raise you to 6 weeks. I’ve entered the Thames Meander - 7th Nov. What could possibly go wrong?

I’m already on the back foot. MP at 5.15 is 11.4km and missed it by 8seconds last night. So I’m getting the excuses in early.

Also thinking of entering. Should have enough base endurance, just pick up some reps of MP or faster.

I’m not sure I’d overthink it FP, long run, intervals, possible tempo run or longer reps.

Just do the long run or easy runs easy.

Maybe a 54321 if you get chance, that’s miles at MP with a mile recovery.

Cheers Jeff. I think I the main sessions in my plan that I need and will do a few MP kms in the long run (but not many if I do the 1hr weekly MP). Right now I have 3 ‘pillar runs’ and few floating gaps that can be filled with easy 6kms or easy turbo.

Would be great to see you there. I notice the 3-4hr finishing wave is off last at 11.00

I’m in , well I’ve entered, will see what the next 7 weeks brings.

It’s a long old drive though, need to find my Vaporfly’s

Yep, my wife and I have also entered today but only for the half. Not sure what I was thinking but like some I guess, I need something to motivate me to get out there.
