Gravel Riding Chit Chat

I resurrected Frankenbike for a ride on Sunday morning. Tbh all the rain we’ve had, the filth-to-fun ratio was poor. Had to turn back or change my route a few times. Yeah the Thunder Burts are also not a great mud tyre! I met some dog walkers at one point who questioned my sanity on one wooded section.

Better bit…

Actually a Bridleway…

Any interest? Not far from a few of you.

@leahnp just down the motorway and must be what you ride on?

6.1 miles? A gravel prologue.

Gotta be AI generated.

I’m sure the picture is photoshopped as you’re unlikely to have a disc wheel on a gravel bike :joy:

Fairly sure the event is legit though, and they’ve gotta make it look interesting!

You’re old enough to remember!

I’ve just pre registered for the Gralloch Ultra; or is it a waiting list. I don’t have a gravel bike. These things happen.

All the other distances are still open for entry. Limited spaces?

Alternatively there’s the Wild Westie which has a choice of two long routes. Plus its closer to civilisation for accommodation and we have friends there.

My bike quandary is complete s/h buy or just the frameset and strip the Endurace. But fark me I like the entry level G4X…

I think we all know the answer to that particular conundrum……

Not gravel related but sold my mtb today, got what I wanted for it, considering it had Hunt XC Wide wheels and a dropper post that are rare as rocking horse shit for the seat tube size on an Anthem 2.

Just the Focus Paralane left now, which was a gravel bike-ish when it came out, but the 28s are standard roadie size these days.

May get a more ‘gravelly’ frame set in the future but I’m one bike only from now on.

The answer exists; my almost perfect build… Shimano mechanical, Zipp, Challenge tyres. But lots of dough and a long way from here. Just needs 2x for one bike to rule them all.

Or best offer… you never know what they might accept… Go on… treat yourself… you deserve it.

Jeez. Long way for thee!

The ferry part put me off. Plus the lack of trains. Route looks good like.

I am meant to be doing some Cambrian thing next month. CBA :face_with_peeking_eye:

Is ‘Bull’ still kicking around?

He is. He lives in the French Alps though and commutes to Canary Wharf every few weeks

Yeah I thought it was Cardross by Helensburgh where my wife’s from  Looks proper epic in a 'race across the world’ sort of way, with ferry crossings subject to arrival timings?

This? The Source: Cambrian Mountains - Glorious Gravel – Off Road Adventures in Cycling

Yeah!!! That’s the one. I can get a train, then ride there and camp. Then the pressure is on to finish in time for the last train

I would like to do some form.of Solstice ride, and that Ekoi Stone Circle one looks decent.
