more weight plus double transportation = added gassy stuff…

not sure anyone has tested a nuclear weapon for some time…

Weren’t there ones in Feb 19 in Nov 2020 in Nevada?

the conservationists would have been all over it if that were the case…

my mistake, they were sub-critical tests.

Electric lorries? After all, we’re talking about the long haul right?

that get their power from?

renewable sources

yep…

The company my brother drives for has switched some of its’ fleet to gas powered trucks, which presumably are cleaner than diesel. The trouble is, their range is massively lower than a diesel truck and there’s only a handful of places in the country where they can fill them up, so it’s a regular occurance for drivers to run out of fuel on the motorway before they get back to the depot and then have to get rescued

Nearly all cabs in Oz run on LPG and it’s readily available at most servos and is heaps cheaper (although costs a lot to convert).

when you see the price it looks attractive but when you drill into the km/ltr, then not so much.

They must’ve considering plonking them next to turbine generators and piping the heat in there right?

It doesn’t work like that. These things aren’t like a Specialized wind tunnel. They are incredibly secure, each generator has it’s own cybersec protocol and is separate from the battery array, which again is on a different level of security.
That’s before you even get to several layers later where heat is actually being created.
There isn’t any ‘plonking’ of anything. This is why it’s so complex.

Anyone on this thread who is interested in some further reading should check out ‘There is no planet B’ by Mike Berners-Lee (brother of www inventor Tim Berners-Lee)

https://theresnoplanetb.net/

Very accessible book detailing environmental and economic issues facing the planet and what as individuals, but also governments, businesses etc could be changed.

Don’t know if you can see this video, but this one of the talks that i found very interesting:

Cosmos helped to make me a conservationist (along with Attenborough, i guess)…but this was a very good read: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Where-Earth-are-We-Going/dp/0563208473
