Leave them at @mw22 ’s house :person_shrugging:t3::wink:

I doubt he’d want to ride through Long Eaton; let alone leave any property there!

I think it’s in the depths of this thread

ETA: It’s in the first few posts on this thread

We can’t use normal comparison sites or standard policies for our house. H&R Insurance in Aberdeen normally do well for providing bespoke policies for a reasonable (ish) premium. Have used NFU as well who were also good.

Thanks @Bob I will give them a call

Home insurance time again.

My renewal with Aviva has gone up from £266 to £334 but looking at comparison sites many are coming in at the same price except one, MBNA (part of Lloyds Bank), which is quoting £246 on a like for like basis. This is so much less than the others I wonder if there any catches - anyone here insure with them?? I suspect they are just fishing for business and the premium would increase enormously in the 2nd year.

I’m tempted just to stay with Aviva for peace of mind and not worry about saving about £90.

Home contents (not building) insurance with four bikes away from home for £120 with Admiral was a lot better than expected.
What they’re like if I ever claim will be another matter, but it’s first time we’ve had insurance

Just got my quote. The same c25% increase as you were quoted. Issue for us is our starting point from last year was £1,550! So we’re now at £1,900 :face_with_spiral_eyes:

My A I e home and contents is due in March, so I’ll be keen to see it. They’ve been very similar YoY since I started using them

Just had our Aviva home insurance renewal through. Up 35% from £775 to £1050. I think our proximity to the sea doesn’t help - not that we’ve got closer to it this past year.

Back to the comparison sites it is but I’m not hopeful of getting much better.

This makes me feel a little bit better, but it’s still nearly half ours!

I ended up renewing. The fact we’ve had a claim in thr last few years, and the percentage of flat roof due to thr various extensions, mean finding anyone to cover us is challenging. It wasn’t straightforward before we had the claim. When you then add in the bike cover, I could probably drop the fee a bit but there’s a comfort coming from knowing they’re actually pretty good when you need a payout

I did a lot of hunting around and boy it can get pretty confusing. Looking at the different bits of small print - and things like ‘matching set cover’ - so that if you spill a bottle of wine over a chair they’ll replace the whole set for instance. Do I want £1000 or £3000 garden cover (for furniture/bbq for example).

One of the companies I looked at (Hastings Direct) regarding bikes (anything over £500 I think) there’s a noted that says the bike if stolen from a garage/outbuilding it must be secured to an immovable object using a Sold Secure Gold rated lock and the keys removed.

My bikes are locked up in the garage using a long cable type lock to something immovable - but for this policy I’d need to buy a motorcycle type chain lock to use. Worth checking the small print on all these policies just in case.

Anyway, in the end I’ve just renewed with Aviva as all the other providers that came up with better prices all seemed to go up when I added the things I have like accidental damage, legal cover, home emergency etc.

I can forget about home insurance for another year. :+1:
