really hope this not the last year
looking back 2 weeks out was when the nerves really kicked in i am really glad i did the race in its prime & no i have not got my rose tinted glasses on , every year it was different and every year we all said it was the toughest year and i always felt broken at some point during the day.

But i can still remember the mass start the helicopter hovering over head really low the strong smell of fuel from the support boats and getting to the first bouy and proper sxxting myself with the mass of people trying to get round and switching to breast stroke till i calmed down,. remember the support out and about and the average joe bloggs cheering you along the strip as shuffled along as sunset approched

Apparently LCB is racing but I think is sponsored by CLS?

Men’s field is very strong with Laudlaw, Lange, Ditlev and a few others.

Good job fruity isn’t there this year to put them back in their box

Yes, I think LCB has some sort of a sponsorship deal with CLS. Maybe just free accommodation and use of the facilities for training?

I saw her there a few times during race week doing press etc even when she wasn’t racing herself

She has put out a few YouTube vids training from CLS. Remember one where she was doing a 16km run at race pace and popped into a shop halfway round to buy a drink, absolutely minging and dripping with sweat. Couldn’t decide if the shopkeeper was smiling or grimacing.

@jeffb shall we enter as a relay team, that’ll larn em

I’d struggle to finish any leg on its own at the moment

today’s the day. Got that weird combo of FOMO and ā€œthank Apollo and all the gods I’m not doing thatā€

Laidlow leads out of the swim, Lange a minute back. Laidlow seems to be tearing away though stretching that to nearly six minutes in the forst 42km.

I definitely get FOMO every time I see the IM Lanza social posts.

The reality is that I would love to do the swim and the bike, but have no desire to do the death march along the seafront.

My knees feel pretty stuffed just doing a short run to the gym. I’m not sure that I could build up to anything like the mileage that I’d need to prepare to run a reasonable proportion of an IM marathon.

That said, if the race happens next year under new management and holds the same time slot, then it’ll probably be on my 55th birthday.

So tempting

We need Pol Poet to close and purge this thread before we do something stupid :face_with_spiral_eyes::rofl:

The swim must be quick? Top 30 in M55 all comfortably under 70 minutes!

@Bob is about halfway around the bike course, clipping along nicely :flexed_biceps:.
