Injury List- do any parts of you still work?

I’m sure you’re right, there’s something to be said, and that thing is “pillock”

You didn’t learn from your sand boarding a couple of years ago

TBH I’m the muppet who has had a bad shoulder for 10 weeks after falling over at a race

Let’s just agree our minds are still in our 20’s :joy:

I’m all for still acting young. Sod the risks and the odd bash up. The benefits have surely got to far outweigh.

I still hang off every bar/beam at head height, somersault on trampolines, backflip off the SUP into the sea. All the fun stuff!

Remember this in 15 years :face_with_spiral_eyes::joy:

Yeah, stay young and stupid

After every cricket game I ache all over and can hardly walk. Danger of being a 46yr old fast bowler. But I am worried there is something a bit more serious going on.

It hurts between my shoulder blades on the spine. It still hurts after the other aches have eased and hurts if I carry anything heavy. Wondering if this might be a stress fracture.

Presumably a GP is just going to give me some pills, tell me to stop playing cricket and fuck off. Is it worth pursuing?

I think I’d just go to the physio, a GP probably has enough to do without sports injuries and fast bowling is tough on the body.

Since Sunday, I’ve been in quite some pain in the left side of my ribs. So much so, I couldn’t get out bed for a while,
Tried to hide it from my Mum and Sister but they could see something was up.
It’s quite severe, especially trying to lean/lie on my left side. I waited quite a while before driving back, as I thought it had eased.

Got home and had to be helped from the car. It got worse and I couldn’t work yesterday, tried today but had to bail, as I couldn’t sit properly, or concentrate. It’s had me screaming out in pain.

Went to the Drs today and she suspects a blood infection but isn’t sure. Blood test needed, then an x-ray.
I’m already in hospital on Friday for an ultrasound on my stomach, because that saga is still going on!

Good grief. :man_facepalming:t2:

Take care of yourself - have they given you any painkillers?

Thanks @p00key , not anything special, they said to alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4hrs.
The Dr seemed less concerned when she knew that I had not had a bad cough lately and that I don’t smoke.

Trying to stay in a few positions is making my back very unhappy. Had a rough night trying to sleep again but I think it is easing a bit.

Had my ultrasound today, this was for my stomach bleeding, not the ribs. Inconclusive really, they said my liver looks fine. They did ask me if I knew that I didn’t have a gall bladder!

Rib pain is a whole lot better today :crossed_fingers:t2:

Don’t. @fruit_thief would get confused and just continue to post awful pictures of made up trotter injuries.

Arh, I’m feeling all of my age and previous workouts/over training/literal and proverbial miles on the clock.

Chronic problems in both calves is a given, meaning I can’t currently run outside.

More gym has given me new problems. Had mild tendonitis in my elbow, can work around it.

Now also have tendonitis in my left shoulder.

Went hull over bridge on some seaweed while walking the cat earlier, landed flat on my back on some rocks.

Nothing broken but it certainly took the wind out of my sails for a few minutes.

Did the cat care? No.

Hopefully nothing serious!

There’s a lot to unpack in that article

I notice that all the people profiled had some unfavorable biomechanical factor that presumably contributed: dysplastic hips, a ruptured ACL, maybe a high bodyweight.

I’m guessing it wouldn’t be too hard to find their boringly uninjured doppelgangers, but theres not much newsworthy about “this bloke has been running for 35 years and his knees seem alright although he’s got the face of a pug and arms like a sparrow”

the lessons are to do little and often…and not to get carried away…
