Inseine...Para-Oly commentary with spoilers

This looked like it was filmed outside Phoenix nights, in the car park

Mixing my metaphors I know - or northern comedians

It is harsh, but so is BMX racing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Again, it’s like Claire, Mark and Becky have been saying; you can have your bad race in the heats, then medal from Lane 1 or 7. I can’t remember which one it is. I’ll check. Then say exactly the same thing tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, inside a new olympic sport was being trialled … :grinning:

Just tuning in, DQ for GB?

Bloody hell, who is this Scottish twat in the studio, he was fucking moron at the triathlon and he’s not got any better.

Another useless pundit on the licence payer funded endless gravy train

What’s this?…

JJ Chalmers? I don’t think he’s there as a pundit :man_shrugging:

He’s an ex-marine who got blown up in Helmand and competed in the Invictus Games.

He’s a generic presenter rather than a sports specialist

Road race boring AF at the moment, but has potential to be nail biting now that there’s a 2nd group off.

He’s fully nailing that brief!

OK windsurfing. I’ve never done it but I have watched a lot.
Now I’m fully aware that not being able to do a sport but having watched it doesn’t make anyone an expert (unless you’re talking about surfing and attempting to lecture someone that has competed at state level    )

I’m also fully aware I’m an old school purist in a lot of the things I do, but at what point does the length of the foil take over from the traditional skill of watercraft in board placement?

Was there any bunfight back along when this sport transitioned to foils being normal?

Spoons, any comment?

They all race on standard kit, don’t they?

Presumably the federation decided that they were going to transition to the aero foil boards? :man_shrugging:

Probably one for the 50+ thread - a guy was being interviewed on the radio this morning. He’s competing for GB in the skateboarding.

He’s 51 FFS :flushed:

Apparently he used to compete with Tony Hawks back in the day and is a bit of a legend of the sport. He’s just got his British passport because his father is from Luton :man_shrugging:

Yes it all looks like the same kit. Just seems like a seismic shift in the sport but maybe there are two flavours these days? I have no idea.

One of the criticisms in surfing is that foils negate the bumping and board placement that make up so much of the core skill. I can see how it’s a skill in itself but surprised to see it seems to have taken over? :man_shrugging:t2:

Not quite what you were asking for, but this made me chuckle and achieves a similar aim!

Surprised India doesn’t have more medals. 1.5 billion population and worlds 5th biggest economy.

Currently in 50th with 3 bronze. All for shooting by the looks of it.

You’d think so but I think cricket and possibly hockey being their national sports I don’t think they invest much in anything else.
