Ironman Frankfurt 2023 and 2024

Deferal sounds sensible in the circumstances. Can you amend the Eurostar booking and get maybe a weekend city break in instead?

I’m sorry to hear that, would’ve been good to line up with you again. Hope it sorts it self out.

Was just a car/tunnel ticket with the non-refundable option

Will ask if I can get a credit voucher

So as sometimes happens, the problem wasn’t where the pain was.

It’s an issue with muscle in my lower back, most likely QL, which has a nerve attached to it, which then goes into the glute
That’s why all the work on my GM hadn’t really healed it.

Currently got top across my back and back to see him next week.

Will be deferring and shifting my focus this year to some other goals.

One slight bonus is at least next year its KQ not for Nice

They are usually pretty good about moving dates, so you could just re-book it to the furthest time in the available bookings window, and keep doing that until it gets to the correct dates for next year.
Maybe.

Yeah I think that should work.

Struggling to sort out flights and bike transport :raising_hand_man:

Cheap flights to Hahn airport look like a false economy

Could you drive?

Would only be 9-10 hours or so plus a boat or train?

I drive every year

I drive every year to the continent until January when Someone In The Family decided to buy a useless peashooter of a car to replace the MPVs we’ve always had.

Looking at flights and maybe sending the bike ahead (we’re staying with family)

You may have left booking flights with a bike a bit late? I drove in any case.

Hahn is quite a long way from Frankfurt; you’d need to hire a car.

Perfect acclimatisation weather in the UK for you

Still a bit cool.

I still remember an IM Frankfurt thread on the old forum - must have been the ‘really hot’ year. There was a guy called Iron Mike who drove over and posted a picture of his dashboard literally melting! :fire:

42 deg on the Saturday, 37 deg on race day for my Frankfurt 2010.

Non wetsuit swim but 37 was a relief after 42….

It’s all relative isn’t it. I remember the joy of sandstorms in the desert; just not having direct sunlight was amazing! So yeah, if you’re used to 40, then low 30s feels fine.

Yes, Iron Mike and Funkster’s fascination with IM Frankfurt was/is a morbid one.
