Ironman Lanzarote 2021

You really want your insurance policy document to list “Ironman” specifically. From what I recall DogTag lists precisely that, so I use them. Never claimed though, which is the real proof of the pudding isn’t it?

Unless you do a Challenge or non-Ironman event

Such things exist?

I probably got someone else at the call centre who probably had no idea what I was going on about so said yes!

I might use insureandgo for Nice, an annual policy will cover a few other overseas races I’ll probably be doing.

Booked in to the Rosamar where I stayed a couple of years ago. Just the flights to sort, I see that Ryanair are yet to release their May schedule.

I’ve raced against you; you’ll never KQ  (iirc you thoroughly spanked me at Perranporth many years ago; my surf swimming is cack squared). Wish I could race more in Cornwall, but a bit of a trek these days. I am still the reigning champ at Fowey though

I last did Perranporth in 2017 and it went very, very badly. The mid 90s was my heyday down there.

I’ve entered Lanza.

Got to be 100% prepared as it is my all out attempt on KQ (despite my IMJ post), I’m not doing a plan B

I am still not sure I want to go to Kona… however, I am 100% sure I want to qualify, and if I do qualify I will go.

Swim coach lined up, now need to sort out a training program

Basically how I feel, sooo do roll downs count…

Roll down is fine as long as I feel I deserved it, if there are a couple of ex-pros in AG and I miss by a couple of places I can square that with myself… if it rolls 15 places not so sure

I had a very random dream last night, or maybe not given Kona is imminent.

So the episode starts with me somehow finishing the swim in Kona, but not having qualified as part of the event. But, after my solid swim, they inform me that there are some ‘on the day’ entries available, and I can carry-on if I register in T1. Cue me trying to frantically organise my logistics to get my bike and run gear from my lodgings, and get registered whilst the race is in full flow.

Like I say, random

Same here, I’m 99% decided I’m going to enter Staffs to try qualify Taupo 70.3, but might not take hypothetical spot if only due to high roll downs.

Yay!!! Enter it.
I’m at home Wednesday to enter.

Just seen the swim has been cancelled for this year.

Must be bad. Thought the sea was always a touch on the choppy side there

Lotta rip tides off Lanza.

I wonder if this is a result of moving the 70.3 to Playa Blanca? It was previously run out of CLS.

Have IM swims always been cancelled as regularly, are conditions somehoe getting worse, or are (my suspicion) IM getting more cautious?

Heard a few people say they didnt think Weymouth was much different to usual tough conditions.

Have to say that I have swum the full IM course at PdC many times and in the mornings it is usually very flat. Not sure about the usual state of the water wherever they are doing this years 70.3

One thing I liked at IM Lanza was no bullshit, get in get on with it. IM CH had “no aero bars” signs every other trucking descent.:roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

Is that why it’s not popular with the IMJ set?
