The Olympics will be a Sprint Tri in Paris…
If that’s something they’re considering then you’d want them to announce it pretty soon to give teams clarity.
Having watched the mens race now, that felt a bit more open in the semi-final, rather than the comfort of Duffy, Knibb, Zaferes, Spivey knowing they could easily make the final.
you tend not to get the top elite triathletes at the duathlon champs
When they did this in the women’s cycling, the leaders waited for a group to form, ended up a bit of a farce. Would work better if it was up the side of a mountain like in Kitzbuhel that year.
it came from a team, so i guess they know…
they have been talking of this since London, to go from Rio but we’ve had two Olympics and no change. I know a sprint is better for the average attention span, but for me its not the same event. I do suppose typically you would get similar athletes winning both but it does give the younger, less developed athletes a greater chance. IMO would make it more a younger persons game.
plus it’s called the ‘Olympic’ distance!
it’s only supposed to be applied to the Olympic Games event due to trademark issues (IOC own the use of the word Olympic) - all other events using this distance should correctly be called Standard distance.
and @Hammerer
the Paris 2024 website still shows the event being the 1.5k/40k/10k format - Triathlon aux Jeux de Paris 2024
but that’s not to say it can be changed I guess
Wow, that would certainly favour the swim specialists
edited to correct the typo!!
