Arm things are probably blood glucose monitors?
Ah 1993; when drafting Spencer would have his Dad threatening to stick one on you
Even I got a St.George WC invite, due to being AWA Bronze last yr (Did Bolton & Bolton 70.3 in 2020. I like Bolton ).
cba to go tho. shame, as I’d love to do that course, and visit that part of the world while I’m there too.
Kona would be nice, but is way too £££$$$. I’ve never even bothered applying for legacy. In Oct I’d rather run along some muddy trail in norfern England with 2 old blokes and a sheep for tuppence.
As for Brownlee. If he’d raced on Saturday, my gut tells me he’d have ridden with the Nordic group, then finished 5th behind Neumann. A fit Frodeno would have been first or second (pushing AB down to 6th).
It’s a theory anyway.
NEWman
GTN said it about 976 times this morning, too!
HED must be happy with Sam’s bike course record while he’s using their very deep non-disc wheel
and where do I sign up
I would love someone to pronounce it Jan Froddeno (as in Janet).
On the flipside I think Mikal Iden was flying high with social media and association with the ‘Norwegian method’ but his charges bombed.
Mind you, one is the uncoachable fruitloop from Canada……
That’s them !
no, basically lactate builds up and the body uses that as an energy source. Its obviously a lot more complex than that, lots of people refer to lactic acid build up, which technically is wrong but to be fair it doesn’t really matter to the lay person.
The running was probably the highest quality ever; slowest run in the top 10 was 2:49 and even a “bad” run from someone who got off the bike in the top 10 was like a 2:56 from Tim O’Donnell
I did wonder about the run. I think guys held back for it. Swim packs were massive, pace was solid but no one really took it out and broke things up.
Bike: Laidlow off the front, Norges comfy lead pack? Again I think everyone was playing it safe, measured and controlled for the run.
I wonder if they’ll just think in future this is handing the race to Iden, and we’ll get more risks taken. Certainly if Brownlee and Jan get to the start line healthy the dynamic surely won’t allow a dozen <2:50s.
It would be unusual in Oz for someone of German heritage to insist on the correct pronunciation. I’m not sure how he pronounces it and it’s up to him but Aussies rarely give a shit, even if it’s wrong. If they decide it’s NEWman, it’ll be NEWman and even the person who owns the name will be told to pull their head in.
There is a famous mountain in Oz called Mount Kosciuszko and that is the new ‘correct’ spelling. The correct pronunciation is 'Ko-shoos-ko but everyone and their dog calls it 'Kozi-os’KO. That’s just the way it is.
Interestingly, I hear a lot of Brits get Killian Jornet’s name right and nearly every Euro commentator getting it wrong.
In Oz nobody would use his name. He’d be Newers or some other form of nickname!
The more I hear about Australia, the shitter it sounds.
I was thinking it’s my kind of place
You just have to put ‘E’ or ‘O’ on the end of every word to fit in.
I thought that was Italy
That’s Brits trying to speak Italian
