Armchair Internet heroes @jeffb. We know ALL of the things about swimming!
Exactly, what do the likes of Chris and hammerer know about swimming
back to open water coaching on Monday…
Theres a SE OW coaching course at Spring Lakes (7/8 June). I would have done that one just to visit but its the weekend Im coaching at the regional development day. Im gonna do the course somewhere else instead. I guess its 95% H&S and orobably 100% of what I learned with BTF but takes away the issues of having to get my BTF quals reviewed by SE each year, it gives me a refresher and i get 2 days of practical experience
Yep it’s pretty ordinary to say the least
I’ve entered a SwimRun at Princes Docks, Liverpool in a fortnight which seemed a good idea a week or so ago when it was so thought I’d better have a wee recce of the set up.
Managed 1000mtrs but included a fair bit of backstroke & stopping to clear the condensation - or ice - from the inside of my goggles.
Definitely not 26degC here .
You’re brave. I am definitely returning to my rule of OWS from June only.
The pontoon I swam off shared a sauna set-up which looked 100% more civilised.
14.5C Earlier this week, still not warm enough for me.
Is that the eliminator event? It sounded fun, I might give it a go in September
It is .
It’ll be my first SwimRun, so hopefully it’ll give me the opportunity to learn a bit.
I think the September one followed a few cold days last year & conditions were a bit parky.
That gave a whole school year group water poisoning last year, I’ll give it a miss
yep…pyro platforms
Ironmate probably still has a few pairs,…
First open water swim of the year for me… ridiculously slow but got 2264m done in an hour
Water 19.5C - 20C
Air 21C
Nice - my local is opening next weekend. It’s not too deep so hopefully this mini heatwave will have warmed it pleasantly
Water was 19.5C… almost toasty.
Did a mini swim in the sea this morning and it most definitely was not 19 degrees!
Face and head were killing. Respect to the little kiddos that were battling it in their training today. I got close to binning it off but then my head suddenly just got over it. Feet and hands were fine though.
Just plodded about for 15 mins or so.
just booked on for Sale Waterpark for me tomorrow
Is the great north swim worth it for a day out? Was thinking of doing the two mile as decent start of ‘summer’ training IM race pace swim as difficult to get that in locally. There’s one open water place near me but only runs a handful of one hour swim sessions a week at awkward times and it’s me - I need more than an hour. Otherwise it’s a loch by myself which I don’t really like doing for more than a 1.2k easy pace loop.
It’s £55 quid and I reckon the Friday afternoon slot would mean I could just drive down and back from Glasgow in the day.
