PEDs

I guess it’s like banning a masking agent - you know that people use it in conjunction with something else to achieve a desired effect :man_shrugging:

This question sounds so dodgy as I write it. Does anyone have a basic list of over the counter medicines which would accidentally test you positive?

I am never likely to be tested, but I still wouldn’t want to take anything prohibited. I’ve just started swimming again and in the past used Beconase nasal spray to stop the sneezes. My wife asked me if this would fail a drug test and I don’t know. I looked years ago but the Wada UK site was a pain in the arse to use.

You can check here -

ETA: active ingredient of Beconase, Beclometasone, is on the banned list

Some inhalers as well but they’d be prescribed?

And this is why I’m asking. As this looks to me like it’s fine. Confusing.

hmm - does seem confusing as if you search the WADA list this is what I see

Prohibited in competition which is contrary to that GlobalDro listing. There is an Ask a Question e-mail address on there so maybe worth trying to clarify??

Ok, I’ve found it. It is not prohibited if inhaled as per the recommended manufacturers guidelines (says this at the bottom of the WADA page).

Pleased I don’t have to navigate this for my livelihood. Looks like a masive nightmare with a lot of potential interpretation

it’s a bit of a minefield.

so - if you inhale more than one puff of Beconase, you’re likely to be banned for not following instructions. Ferk me - I’d be banned for life as I’d usually take about 4 squirts before the swim and 4 after!!

Globaldro is “The Guide”, it can be used in court if you test positive for something and you have the search reference that clears it.
Its really very simple these days and no excuses for any pro to accidentally take something.

Loads of boxers/ combat sports guys come close, but let’s
Be honest some of them have took too many shots to the head.
The “younger
Generation”
Seem more diligent as to what they consume.

Again. Human testimony alone exposed sports ‘greatest lie’. So WADA can get knotted over threatening hobby athletes for taking too many nasal decongestant puffs.

Paging @explorerJC 9 year olds racing 5k’s

EA recommend U13s are first AG to do 5k road races, track i think its U17, maybe even U20 before they do 5000m.

But it’s not a race…

It’s not affiliated to EA I’m guessing. So you can dope for it

There seems to be a lot of ‘fanboy’ around his content, and very little dissent to his what is effectively doping.

If you need to take TRT to win your AG in events, then you are, by definition, not simply doing it to maintain health or quality of life. He comes across well on his YT content, but underneath there’s an ‘ugly’ side to his approach.

I can’t say i am a fan.

There are some exceptional 9 year olds, which is fine…but who will they race, the unexceptional ones?

there is some evidence inspired learning that those who win when they are young, tend not to win when they are older…
