Strava

I kind of thought it used a weather app based on location but maybe not :man_shrugging:t2:

I know polar watches used to a long time ago as I watched it get warmer in the sauna :joy:

Er nope. Try again Strava AI. Maybe:

“Steady morning ride with a focus on staying alive while getting to work. Typical route distance, because neither your home nor your workplace have magically teleported elsewhere overnight.”

I’d be interested to see what some of the temperatures were on my Ironman files.

Strava has given me 30-days free Premium. Tbh the leaderbaords are about the only function I noticed the difference on or was interested in. Did getting a KOM unlock that?

My wife suddenly got upgraded to premium for some unknown reason the other day but she got no notifications advising her of this - just noticed she had the different shaped profile badge.

We just thought she’d signed up by mistake (which was highly probable!)

Hope you’re not locked in afterwards without agreeing to it.

I haven’t provided any payment details to them; in fact it said twice “No Card Payment” second time in bold. I guess they just hope people will miss the features and stump up the money.

I’ve avoided it on Duolingo for nearly a year now!

I coughed up for premium for the first time on holiday, can’t remember why, something about wanting to export a route to my device. But ended up not doing that and just using Garmin Connect anyway.

But was quite impressed with the extra features like the fitness progress data and various other bits - think I’ll keep it for now.

I still have premium, the routes is significantly better than Garmin, usually :joy:

Also prefer some of the metrics but mostly use them to review what I’ve done.

The best premium feature is being able to get the gpx or send to your Garmin any of the courses or rides you see on Strava.

Yeah, atm I plan any routes on the OS app and export them to Garmin. Wouldn’t work abroad obvs.

Has anyone signed up for Garmin Connect premium?

I just don’t see the value
:man_shrugging:

Nope, will stick with Strava premium.

I can get Strava premium for students which I think was around £25 - it’s got enough features that I think it’s worth it for that. Not full price though.

that’s not a month is it?!

I get it for something similar which helps my decision.

Think it might be £35 per year though?

I’d possibly still renew anyway.

I will say the prediction times are absolute shite though. Admittedly I’ve done very little running but I’ve just run faster than my predicted 5km time :man_shrugging:t2: - In fact, I’d go as far to say I could beat any of those times listed

I think mine are pretty accurate and slightly quicker than I could actually run, except for the marathon time which seems slow.

But massively better than my Garmin which thinks I can do an 18 minute 5K :joy:

It’s very basic isn’t it. Or I’ve just unlocked the newest training hack! :joy:

Just run a 50km, don’t worry about speedwork and volume, and voila. Knock a minute off your 5km, 2.5 off your 10 and 33 mins off your mara prediction! :joy: :joy:
