That is still a long dreadmill run!!!
What plan are you following?
Run less run faster. The critical factor is pace, not volume. And lots of cross training
Think Iām going to get some kind of portable fan small enough that the gym wonāt freak out.
Is the treadmill running to avoid injury?
I personally find treadmill running worse. I get more achy, and sore lower legs, than I do outside. I also canāt run anywhere near the same pace for the same effort level (Iām slower when it feels like Iām working harder).
I now use the treadmill sparingly.
No, consistent pacing. As above, the routes I have available interfere with pace a bit too much.
I like to follow the protocol ācleanlyā on the tempo and interval runs so use the treadmill, and as Iām struggling for flattish routes, try it on the long run.
Same for me.
Cheers mate, letās hope I can keep it up. Messing about with my āplanā now, adjusting recover weeks etc to synch with races.
@joex will be interesting to see how you get on with that training plan.
When is you marathon?
@FatPom there is a fine line with making sure you get good quality recovery without losing too much of your gains but too much recovery is better than not enough I reckon.
April 19th - Brighton Marathon.
Geez April 19th will be busy. Brighton, London and Newport all on same day!
@joex thatāll be a good one.
@FatPom London is on the 26th I think, same as Blackpool which I should be doing.
ah ok thanks. There is a lady here that has a GFA for London entry and she thought it was on the same day as Newport. better let her know haha
Training go well up to now.
Tues 6 miles
Wed 6 miles
Fri 6 miles
Sun 21 miles
Todays run was a steady one rather than doing some at MP and some easy.
Wanted to get time on my feet and went off road in the mud so not that good for fast paced miles.
Tempo and Interval runs have been no problem, not much of a strain so far, but the last two long runs are more inline with a 4:05 goal than my 3:53.
I chickened out of doing the long run on the treadmill yesterday because the weather was so fine, but might need to force it next week.
I think last week was my most run training hours ever, so itās still a good news story really.
Nice one @joex
On the hours bit on your screenshot what are the 2 different figures for?
So on Run 4:53/4:47
Actual v planned, not important really, but nice when youāve hit it - although in that case itās because I was slow
Good hours that mate
Went to track night with my running club tonight. Felt good to be running real 1km intervals, much harder to pace, but gladly no harder to run.
Strava reckons I hit PBS for 1/2 mile, 1k and 5k too.
Soā¦Feeling a bit more confident again.
Fingers crossed for 32km run on Saturday and hitting 6:09/km.
My Achilles problem is 10 days and counting now and still not good, so the April marathon is starting to look unlikely for me. Gutted as was starting to make progress and get my running legs back and 3.40 or just under was realistic.
Might have a look to see whatās available later in the year.
Off to the rant thread or moaning about an injury thread if there is such a thingā¦
