Sub 9 Hour Journey

Joe? The £300 Endura ones? Was that as long ago as 14/15? I can’t remember tbh.

Didn’t he (Joe) also try and sell ‘a day training with Joe’ type experience? Fair play to him, he seemed to be putting in a lot of effort to try and make it work… and it has.

Yeah, Joe was good on here, and pretty down-to-earth tbh. He offered to coach me, perhaps a few others. I think to an extent, he’s had to become ‘outspoken Joe’ to garner clicks/support. He just needs some guidance before he hits transmit at times.

So @daz is the only TT2.0 member who has gone Sub 9

I think so.

Hywel Towel was still teaching back then and Sav is a Lawyer, all be it self employed, so probably had a bit of leeway

Sav had 15 kids and worked; but he was coached by Bill Black. Sav was all-in and physically gifted to boot.

(okay it’s 4 kids iirc  I think Mrs Sav is getting payback these days)

Alan Couzens will get you to Kona…

We should start a ‘what happened to’ thread. I remember Tony and his wife (Sonya?) and the saga of their windows.

Yes he’s definitely paying back in spades now, and enjoying his “down time”. I always wondered how he did it, even with goodwill of Mrs Sav it was huge time constraints on him.

What are the next three weeks looking like for you Matt?

Any key sessions pencilled in?

I follow him on twitter, some really interesting stuff, seems you just need to do 3 hours a day all easy to win or something.

I am feeling really motivated by @Chriswim race this weekend. I will do my best in Roth in 3 weeks, however, as Chris highlights, things rarely go perfectly on the day. I am amazed that he raced so strongly despite suffering from a Virus (did you take a Covid test @Chriswim)

From my own point of view, I am very please with my preparation, I really don’t think I could have done much more, possibly a little more swimming, other than that I am as prepared as I can be

I wouldn’t disagree with you here. Only former club swimmers like Chris are getting away with as little as 2h20/week! (but they still get the metres in)

Last week was my last big training week, started with a 340km bike ride, lots of swimming (inc 3600m), lots of running, 2 TT bike rides at IM effort, then on Sunday a 2h8m Olympic Distance triathlon on very tired legs.

The main focus now is time open water swimming. I think I can get my IM pace to 1:50/100m, which would give me a 1h10m swim, about 5 mins from where I hoped it would be.

Tomorrow I am planning a 30km run, will be my last big run before Roth. Aim is 4:45 pace for 15k, 4:15 pace for 10k, 5:00 pace for final 5km. After big run I will start my taper

Temperature later this week will be mid 30’s so opportunity for a bit of heat adaptation.

That’s what @Jorgan said, part-time :joy:

Just catching up after a few days away at WTCS Leeds

chapeau @Chriswim - top bombing fella given that you’d not been well in the build up.

My longest pre IM swims were generally around 4500m OW.

FTFY :joy:
