Was really looking forward to tracking @Chriswim but just realised the time zones don’t work very well here :sleeping_bed: , hopefully will catch the sub 9 finish though :muscle:

Good luck that man. Deserve a great race.

Also, just seen that Cam Brown is now eligible to join the over 50s thread :exploding_head:

:crossed_fingers:it is an app issue.

Pro swim leader was 48:02 (Currie), fastest AG 48:20. Right around Chris’ target.

Its a shame GPS tracking requires a sim of some sort or lots of on course transmitters. Quite cheap to knock up a GPS tracker and linking to googlemaps/earth based app is piece of piss, so surely cant be long before its common at a race.

Do we think he may have a timing chip issue?

Top AGers showing around 55 minutes now

It is fairly common in ultras, some even use satellite comms where there is poor coverage, though the sat versions are kinda bulky (though getting smaller)

The boy is insane. I don’t think I could even swim 100m in 1.19, letalone that pace for 3.8km at the start of an IM!

how do they do it? via your mobile or a 4g/5g sim card attached to the transmitter? Seems you could get the GPS stuff for ~ £20 and keep it small also 3d print a “case” and Velcro strap and i doubt it’s a much different size to a current chip.
