Quite a few Elites don’t go for the top end suits as they are very compressive and uncomfortable if using for more than a 100. It could be a carbon air/carbon derivative (they are 1% carbon fibre weave, havent bothered looking into the why of carbon), but they were top of range pre Primo and were very popular.

Probably walked in with her red bull trucker cap :joy:

Why carbon?

Just because it’s carbon surely. Carbon = fast, everyone knows that.

Only if they are red ones

I have it on good authority she wore her RB trucker cap instead of a swim cap.

Makes the swim more impressive? :mermaid: :woman_shrugging:

Can’t be too bad, new British & European Masters record by just over seven seconds apparently.

An 18year old Kent champion

Nationally its about top 10 this year

ETA:- female 15Free records are relatively weak compared to 4 or 8 still as its a new event for them and not the most popular at masters either as you can imagine. Thats not taking away from her time thats decent.

But you dont get up at 5am and swim 30k+ a week from a young age. We all do quite well considering!

One last screenshot, a 15year old boy; man as hes fucking huge, El Niño will be swimming with :-

Although considering how slow, relatively, his breaststroke is Im more impressed with his 4IM than his 15Free

Struggled to hold pace last night. Was doing 3x descending distances from 500m to 300m. Well that was the plan. At the end of the 2nd 400m just couldn’t hold pace. Decided to do the next as 4x 100m and by the 2nd one couldn’t hold it.

I have done a decent job of getting faster over short distances over the last year. I will continue that but chuck in more aerobic, long rep sessions.

New 2km PB today 31:44 @ my local gym 20m pool.

Here’s the progression in the same pool over 7 years with the bump in the middle following the accident.

Crazy swim times

El Niño’s friend, he’s 14, went 4:38 for 4IM, and 4:08 for 4Free today at Winter Regionals (SCM)

A 13-year-old girl went 17:56 for 15Free

Mental.

We had a decent day, just 200Breast in 2:44.3 so 1.5 seconds off his pb set 5 weeks ago. He was disappointed as lost concentration on 3rd 50 but cant do much more than pb. 10th in age in the region so not too shabby.
4 races tomorrow!

Not unknown though !
The third quarter of any event is psychologically the most difficult. One gets to half way and is feeling it and cannot help thinking “**** I feel knackered and I’m only half way”. Most people speed up on the last quarter though as they’re “on the way home” then. It’s the same with reps, the one before the last is usually the slowest.

Those times you quoted are frightening, time to emphasise the long term social, health and psychological benefits of swimming !
My 11 year old lad sometimes asks me if he has “any chance of swimming at the Olympics”, I just say you have a much better chance then anyone randomly picked off the street !

Managed to get to a Sunday swim session for the second week running. Hope this means the start of some consistency!
