Winter SC Nats in Sheffield but its junior and senior only so 17 and under and 18 and over, not age group so if shes swimming at 14 thats some achievement! Not many youngsters get the times. The 17 and under boys 100breast was won in 58. for instance! El Nino is top 5 in county at 15 with low 1:14!
Counties are run over 3 weekends Jan-Feb usually , QF times are gained until Monday 6th for most counties. Level 3 is basically an open meet, times count for most things except National quals.
L2 is Short Course championships or high level SC (ie SC nat qualifiers) and L1 is high level LC meets (LC nat qualifiers and championships)
Theres a L4 which is club champs, times count on ASA rankings but dont typically count as qualification.
Short Course Worlds start tomorrow as well. Well worth a watch, think streamed from WA website. One of Eliots club mates is swimming in the 4 and 15 Free for Mauritius!
Is it possible to split this thread into actual swim training advice (good) and all the other stuff (politics, regulation, overbearing parenting etc) so that those who don’t want the latter can still get the odd tidbit of the former…?
They are, but are we saying they should not get too much motivation by emphasising times ? And how else, other than times, would you motivate a swimmer ? Winning medals perhaps, but that then depends on others doesn’t it ? I never emphasise medals with my boy because how quick the others are is out of his control.
Waiting to go swimming tonight, heard two lifeguards discuss how one had to remove a 6-8 inch (human) shit from the shower earlier that day. They had no idea who did it.
