Is it possible to split this thread into actual swim training advice (good) and all the other stuff (politics, regulation, overbearing parenting etc) so that those who don’t want the latter can still get the odd tidbit of the former…?

They are, but are we saying they should not get too much motivation by emphasising times ? And how else, other than times, would you motivate a swimmer ? Winning medals perhaps, but that then depends on others doesn’t it ? I never emphasise medals with my boy because how quick the others are is out of his control.
Comprehension isn’t for everyone is it?

Waiting to go swimming tonight, heard two lifeguards discuss how one had to remove a 6-8 inch (human) shit from the shower earlier that day. They had no idea who did it.
