Does that mean you don’t want those runners then?
Fookin 'ell - someone turned the motor boat on for the first 15m. Impressive
Thanks for that post. I’ve always assumed I’m doing it wrong because it’s really hard work. Everyone says it should be effortless! When I engage my lats and get more force on the water, I’m f*cked after 100m. Maybe I have other issues, but at least I know I’m not necessarily doing it wrong just because it’s hard work. So yeah, thanks.
Basically “hard work, works”. Sh!t at swimming? Swim more! (this would apply to most AGers doing Ironman).
Pretty constructive comments so far, no hate
I know, but very little in comment. I bet if i was some “swim expert” offering advice like swim once a week only use a pull buoy and swim really easy, id get 300 likes and 400 replies about how x went from 2hrs to 1.50 using just a pull buoy and it really works. Sad state of affairs, if you don’t like swimming don’t do triathlon. I suppose coaching in a tri club you get a certain type of person there, no matter how little talent to improve. They want to enjoy the sport. IMJ is full of posers who want to brag about how they finished an Ironman in “hero hour” or whatever joke title they use.
Sorry, this is over my head! Did you post it on imj?
yes the swim link from above about working hard
I thought the follow-up comment about imaginary riptides would have got more of a bite, he’s their hero and what they all aspire to.
Its been pretty quiet on IMJ recently, Riptide has vanished
Ah apologies I’ve missed it. I’ll have a look
I remember someone inquired about him a while back and they said he had stepped away from the group and was very happily getting on with the rest of his life. I think he did make the swim cut-off and finish one in the end.
Christ I see what you mean about vibrating foam rollers
Swimming is the only exercise where I sometimes feel like I need to ease back, as I’m worried the Lifeguard may actually have to do their job
This is pretty similar to what goes through my head when talking to some runners about training advice! Excuse my ignorance but what’s IMJ and how can I view the backlash from this post?

ETA - Don’t blame me if it knocks 20pts off your IQ!
DON’T DO IT! (IMJ)
I’m intrigued now though! Which one is it? There’s three of them!
Whichever one has the most talk of ‘legends’ and ‘smashing’ it.
