Talk to me about Outdoor Gear

Top tip: do an empty load in your washer next to clear out any residual Nikwax. Just a short cycle with some detergent. Else your clothes will smell faintly of Nikwax potentially.

I probably do my Paramo jackets that get regular use about every 6 months.

Thanks. I’ve stuck our (machine washable) indoor doormat in the washer to do as you say.

I was reading about Altberg boots earlier. I’d never heard of them before but they were referenced on a moto channel.

Have no idea if they are any good? Looks like they are made in Richmond, Yorkshire (which made me think of @Whisk and his Mum :sad_but_relieved_face: )

Popular with the forces; I visited their factory shop a few years ago when I was up there. I currently cut about in the tabbing boot when I’m moonlighting. Nice boots. I also have/had a couple of pairs of the discontinued Yan Tans.

That’s interesting thanks. They aren’t stupid expensive for something that is made locally.

If you have skinny ‘Italian’ feet like me, the AForme fit boots are good and hold the heel well.

I’ve heard of them, but I think they only started up in business around about the time that I moved away from Richmond.

There was a shoe factory on the industrial estate that went out of business in the late 80s and it looks like this lot are probably operating out of the same premises.
