A bit of TT tourism here. A few emails to the super friendly and helpful A45 Road Club and I was welcomed to their evening TT, whilst working away, this week.
The course was lovely tarmac, not sporting, but quite a few little hills, with a single carriageway “road” (more like a tarmacced farm path)
Had my training wheels on and ate far too close to the start time, so felt my early supper coming back up only five miles in…
…but, I really enjoyed it!

Supper? Are you in the Cavalry now

Wind, rain, hail and a potholed course with some crazy 100 degree turns.
But, I enjoyed it.
For the second time today, I’ve been beaten by one second per kilometre. (Ran an 18:04 parkrun this morning)

Winning time for my 25TT was by the Steve Cummings in 50-21
Second place was 2-35 down on that.
Says a lot for the course when a Dimension Data Pro Tour rider doesn’t go under 50.

Wow that’s still rapid. I’ve pretty much abandoned any TT goals for this year. Training for my ultras is very tiring, so at best, I’m just keeping in touch with my cycling. Normal service to be resumed post July (hopefully!)

Did a club 10 tonight but just on the road bike, sneaked in at 26:52 on a slow course\slow night.

Was pleased with 292W AP though, that was the main reason for going, fairly fresh though but was generally trying to avoid going to hard in the first few miles so there could have been a bit more in the tank, not much though.

Got a hilly 47 Spoco on Sunday but likely to use the roadie again, TT bike is almost roadworthy and going to start riding it soon.

After a fine week turned gnarly with an Easterly springing up, which is the ‘wrong’ direction. Disappointed with 22:48 but all riders were 1-1:30 down so maybe the ride was worth the mid 21 I was after.
New position with 40 deg bend bars, felt quick but also noticed the increased instability.

I did the 47M spoco today, and seemingly misunderstood the word ‘mountain’ in the title, it was brutal, 1100M of ascent, although the last 17 miles were fast. Road surfaces were horrific.

I crawled round in 2:35 (on my road bike), but only 4 people broke 2 hours, pretty sure they were all on TT bikes.

I felt like binning it a few times but kept reminding myself it was a good training ride.

AP was 232W, NP 250W, IF .86 & TSS 193, although my FTP on Garmin is slightly high so the IF was probably higher actually.

Suffered with my lower back and left hip\thigh, then got off not expecting to walk but managed a 3K brick almost pain free, very annoying!

Sounds like a good workout Jeff. Not much in common with Hamburg though… unless you just ride up & down the bridge!

Can I post a Hill Climbing TT in this thread? 5.5km 575m elevation, 24m45s. Even though I claimed first official prize, Emma Pooley took part in an unofficial capacity and was 40second quicker than me… And took over 3m30s off the QOM, which was held by Cathy Yndestad, who is a 30-35 AG winner at Kona.

No.
And stop name dropping

Did you know Matt rides with Emm Pooley?:grin::upside_down_face:

Of course you can.

Good one Jeff. Can’t stand SPOCO courses; I’ve officially retired from them.

SPOCO? Does that mean a ‘sporting course’ i.e. it actually contains some ascent and a change of scenery?

I know just doing a ‘circuit’ course frightens Testers!

I’ve grown soft in my old age and a flat, traffic assisted course is much more my cup of tea these days.

Not this tester. I like SPOCOs or any other course (shy away from DCs). Like IM, I just race what’s in front of me on the day.

My first attempt at a proper TT. Fairly pleased with time, lots to learn. Went off a fraction fast - first 5 mile 12 secs faster than the 2nd. Still feel completely spent the next day!
