What have they got in the aid stations - would tend to go with that if you can stomach it in training

Like on SDW they provide tailwind at every aid station so that is what I tend to stick with in training to train my gut to get used to it

What is their go to gel/electrolyte?

Sausage and chips does sound good though - you can get a bit sick of the energy stuff after a while

I’m not sure they have anything like that. From I can gather it’s all real food, tea/coffee (possibly Coke) and water. I will dig a bit deeper though because if you don’t have a crew, they have these vans at a few crew points for the unsupported.

The volunteers at the aid stations are called Arc Angels and the ones in the vans are Flying Angels.

I was watching this

And discovered this: Via Valais Trail Running

Looks quite amazing.

Tomorrow at 08:00 the UTMB ptl event starts, 300km and 25000m vert to cover in 7 days. Thats averaging 43km and 3571m vert per day in the mountains, with everything the terrain has to offer, sleeping in huts or a bivvy. What an event :star_struck:

Some one asked me if I wanted to do it with them once

Never said no as quick to anything as that invitation

I would love to train for this event. Said this to my family earlier. They laughed at me and said I get lost trying to find my way out of a car park. They are right of course, my orientation skills leave much to be desired!!

In other news, the Transalpine Run starts in two weeks. This is another event I’d like to train for

Isn’t PTL for locals only or am I confused?

Just read this morning that Shane Ohly has set a new Lake District Classic Rock record.

Doing this round in under 10 hrs and beating Tom Randall’s previous record of 11hrs 10mins is mind blowing (It’s also bloody dangerous). Originally the challenge was to complete the route in under 24hrs!!
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s an old article about it.

I hadn’t realised TDS starts today. I need to see if there is a tracker for Loyd Purvis.

In my head I had TDS starting tomorrow, but yes starts at midnight.

@jeffb, @p00key when are you arriving in Chamonix?

Ooh, I didn’t realise. Weather forecast looks good, high of 20, low of 9.

I’ve messed up a bit and don’t arrive until Thursday, will then be rushing to register and get ready

Although I am in Switzerland now!

The rushing on Thursday is not good, but it’s probably not a bad thing to be in Switzerland now. A bit of peace and quiet before the storm!!
