Trail & Ultra Running Thread

Work has been busy so not had time to post , but got to the 87.5 mile point at reading but timed out . Was very happy with it overall - it was Baltic overnight and just didn’t quite have the fitness to finish the race . Came away feeling pretty positive as it’s all going in the right direction

Fantastic effort @pookey and that’s a good marker. Do you have a back up WSQ race lined up?

I don’t for the ballot this year . But that’s fine . Thinking about this year and my dnf’s I need to be realistic about getting my fitness right back up there to even think about being able to complete it , menopause ain’t helping but I am navigating it more successfully now .

So canyons next year will get me on the trail and a really good reccie . Just need to get another one race in towards the end of next year. I’m feeling very positive - we are getting older and I want to be more mindful on training etc I don’t hold fitness as long and it takes longer to get fit :joy:

We’re in a similar place TBH. (minus the menopause  ). Re-build, re-asses, come back stronger :+1: :muscle:

I do wonder if I’m living at the wrong end of the spectrum. I’m undoubtedly a better road runner, than a trail/ultra runner but there is ‘something’ about the latter…

Lots of food probably

Bloody hell, wet feet anyone!

Gotta say that looks pretty grim

Yeah, the crossing with the helpers looked fine but all that mullarkey in the fields and burst streams looked hard work.

Pah, call that wet ?

Looks like one of the drier sections of Cape Wrath

Did you watch the film Doug, it gets worse than the thumb nail but to answer your question.

Yes, yes I do.

A lad I know came about 27th in that, said it was a tough day.

It looked tough. There is a channel I watch occasionally called The Trail Running Couple and they DNFd, which is unlike them. Imagine going through that waist high stuff at night!

It was a wet year this year it was dry the year I did it . Apart from the first river crossing (where I took my socks and trainers off :joy:). It’s a great course
