Have I lost touch of prices?
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Hardmoors events. But the event I’m looking at is unmarked, without proper aid stations (volunteer crisps/sweets at the checkpoint).
Am I wrong to question why pay £50?

What’s the distance?
I think they removed the taping after complaints about it being litter despite them clearing it after.
I think you said the full distance and I thought they had manned aid stations at a couple of places?
Edit: yes what there is on course is at the checkpoints and tends to be sweets and drinks etc
Fell races tend to be cheaper but you are on your own.
Sunday for me will be the not-a-race A Coventry Way Challenge, 40 miles of trails around (but not in) Coventry.
https://www.acoventryway.org.uk/challenge/
Dots to watch will be here: A Coventry Way / 7 Apr | Track-Trail-Live
Rolling start, I’ll probably start around 7.30ish.
50km
There’s checkpoints @jeffb but no mention of aid on the website and friends have said apparently the Guisborough event is just whatever volunteers provide, rather than being provided by the race (compared to other Hardmoors events).
I’ll probably still do it, but haven’t tried to encourage a friend to come from the midlands as not sure what they’d travel for
Short report on Chianti 100km
4am start - that wasn’t pleasant. Meant getting up at 1am to drive to the start and bag a parking spot in the little village where the race began
First couple of hours in the dark were the easiest of the race - gentle downhills and a few ups which were easy walks
Sunrise over Chianti was very pretty and stopped for some photos along the way - the ones from the photographers were needless to say much better than with my iPhone - I don’t usually bother to buy them but Mrs T wanted hers downloading as well so I thought why not
The first 50km went fairly easily - the second was a lot lot harder - trails were much more technical, the hills a lot longer and steeper - you might detect a change of mood
Some really quaint old villages
More bastard hills
A slice of genuine wtf am I doing here
Followed by the last 10km when for some reason I always feel pretty good, lots of running, overtaking plenty and by the finish thinking that was alright
17 hrs 24 minutes, 275th overall - just about mid table respectability (ish)
102.5km, 4100m
And a few of Mrs T as she always gets more likes than me - she did the 43km and absolutely loved it - came 9th in her age group
That could be the case, I know when I’ve done the half route the checkpoint at the bottom of Rosey has some drinks\snacks as does the one at the back of Kildale, not very much and it could be from the volunteers. And it does suggest food\water on the route map at the checkpoints.
There’s also the fact that some people like to race of course, but outside of the top 15 it tends to be more of a community event to get out and see routes TBH. And I think you get ITRA points for them.
There’s usually some good runners in the top 5 depending on who turns out but if you’ve recovered from your injury and got some miles in your legs you’ll be in the mix.
Might be worth a recce of bits of it as there’s definitely a couple of turns you could miss.
Those photo’s are brilliant - you stuck it out and finished it. I hate early starts - Canyons is a 5am start but the shuttles are from 2:45 to 3:30 and you cant be dropped off …
You will get no sleep on those buses either - boneshakers
Great write up and pics mate. Huge congratulations to you and Mrs T. Job done and done well. ![]()
Hundred Hills 50km event entered for Mrs T and myself - March 2025
Hundred Hills is a cracking event!
I’ve done both editions and wouldn’t be surprised if i go again next year. Perfect early season ultra!
A great confidence builder for Mrs T - hopefully with OCC later that year
Great stuff team T!
Looks like a beautiful course.
Ground looks pretty runnable (hills aside) as well. Nice change from the blimmin muddy slop in the UK!
Had coffee with my mate who finished Arc 50 yesterday. he said he’s keen to have a crack at the 100 but hasn’t made his his mind up fully. I said I’d crew him if he does.
Well that was muddy and a tad windy, but A Coventry Way done. Tweaked my hamstring with all the mud, not badly but slowed me down a bit.
Well done Doug ![]()
nice work Doug
Good work - the trails around here are pretty foul - I can back covered in filth this morning - hate to think what your legs and feet looked like at the end of that (not an invitation to post feet pics)
