It looks pretty bleak on some of the live-cams I’ve seen!
I’m completely oblivious to these Haute Alpes ultras but there surely must be some sort of risk to life with those sort of conditions ?

I did that race once in pouring rain -never spent so much time on my arse in a race
The year the death happened apparently they had changed the route and you had to cross a very steep slope that became a mud fest in the bad weather that resulted in a circa 300m fall/slope - so a friend of mine told me - he described it as madness

Typing with no glasses and tired Doug. CP1 was 21km and CP2 was 30 km. (there are only two aid stations).
