Sounds like a brutal day doug. But deffo one for the experience bag that you can draw from on Race day! Well done bud.
Looks like there were 34 dnfs and I was 6th out of 14 in the old gits category (10 finishers 4 dnfs). Makes up for being 7th last finisher (out of 135 finishers). I’m normally midpack
This looks like a unique kind of ultra, sort of eliminator, too late for this year though as it was today apparently.
Basically run round every coastal path on the 5 inhabited Isles of Scilly, ~60k in total and they transfer you to the next one by ferry, but if you don’t get to the ferry on time you’re a DNF and presumably fed to the sharks off that respective island ![]()

From their website “The cut offs are based on 7:30min/kms”.
Sounds easy-peasy.
But, it’s an Eliminator & they’re like Beep Tests, everything is easy until it isn’t
.

My mate did it last year. Said it was really good fun. Hardest thing was sitting around on the boat trying not to cramp up as you wait for the next island.
Ooh - liking the sound of that!
Wondering what to do later in the year!
“That’s a bold and exciting goal, and while it’s not impossible, it’s definitely a challenge that calls for some careful planning and self-awareness.”

Sounds good if you’ve got the time and motivation for it. And are willing to back off if you’re at risk of injury.
What’s the goal?
Dead Cow Gully is on at the moment. 6 runners left loop 94
I’m guessing Western States is fairly soon as well as I’m seeing a few mentions of it.
thoughts?
Saturday - can’t wait!
6 miles shorter than UTMB with 2500m less vert but 6 hours less to finish it. Sounds like a very tough event for the 100 miler
WSER preview here - mentions Debbie who I will be supporting .
Lap 104 only two left, Phil Gore and Sam Harvey, perfect duo to try for another 12 laps.
not for me - those days are past - but intrigued as it’s more or less on my doorstep
Run Walk Crawl seem a good bunch, I did their Rasus y BannauUltra (42miles) in April.
might get in touch to see if they want volunteers to help out
Yep, following this too. This should be interesting with those two. I’ll say it again. How do they do it on so little sleep; I mean this is four days in ![]()
