There’s no fixed route, you just have to visit the 42 summits and start and finish in Keswick. But in reality there are few options and almost everyone takes the same route

Yes, there’s a few minor options here and there but basically a big circuit, clockwise or anti-clockwise.

Killian set the record with this route a few years ago, I think Jack was something very similar, and both were generally paced and guided by some very good local fell runners that know it like the back of their hands.

That is utterly ridiculous. I’m disgusted at the GAP there :face_vomiting:

I think the UTMB ballot is opening soon? Got a popup about it earlier, can’t decide whether to throw my hat in for OCC, but it’ll be a struggle fitting it into the season if I get lucky.

From memory it’s Dec entry and early Jan ballot draw isn’t it?

OCC was a great race - brill to do it it with Jim Walmsley in the same race

Currently in negotiations with Mrs T and work to spend a full month in Chamonix this summer - 2 weeks “working” and 2 weeks Holliday to include UTmB week - I haven’t got any rocks to enter the races but just love the vibe

We keep saying we would go out for a few weeks - agree about the vibe - love it there - the prices for self catering are crazy round UTMB week.

The cost and holidays from work is a problem for me as I’ll be using a lot of A\L early in the year. I knew I was going to CCC before the ballot in 2022 because it was a deferral from 2020 so booked accommodation in November I think.

I’ll see.

I think if you can book before Jan when the ballot results come out you get better value but still not cheap

Would love to do CCC
Have run the whole course so know exactly what to expect

perhaps look at staying down the valley at Servoz, Passy, or Sallanches and either driving up and down or use the train (Mt Blanc Express) from Passy

Good tip thanks .

We fly to Thailand one week today - UTMB Chiang Mai 50km - can’t wait to just be somewhere warm. Heat training adaption happening with sauna sessions - not too worried about cut offs unless they change - I do need a confidence booster though - training has been much better than usual - although still having on /off problems with my back ( old age eh!) . The race gives double stones so would like to give OCC another shot , although too many races close together in June/Aug and September next year - so might see about going for it in 2027.

Good luck @p00key. Have you done this one before?

Not this one - I’ve deliberately dropped the distance to build that confidence back up. Its been a few years since we were last in Thailand so will be interested to see how much it has changed.

I think we are in similar places with confidence building, good luck. :crossed_fingers:t2:

As for Thailand, I suspect there are ‘Johnny Hilfiger’ and ‘Harry Boss’ shops to spend money in. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Finally a race finish after nearly two years . That was hard. The ascent was really steep + the humidity and more technical than I expected. Felt very strong minded - just need to get my endurance up and weight down . What I did notice is people trying to keep their feet dry and not muddy - it’s a blooming trail race :joy:. Now to enjoy the heat and the rest of the holiday .
