No they’re not. They don’t even realise what they’re doing. 90% of these idiots get away with it through sheer naivety. The other 9.99% just think it’s someone else’s problem to get them out of the shit they created.

These 3 lads represent the 0.01% that have a tiny pinch of self-awareness and own up to their errors and learn from it.

You may be right . I don’t get it personally… being in the hills in crap wet windy dull weather is just boring. Give me blue skies in Spring, or blue skies with a load of snow, any day.

IMO, a space blanket is about as useful as an ash tray on a motorbike when it comes to keeping warm (and it only looks like they had one?). You need a bivvy bag because who knows when/how help can get to you.

By their own admission, they didn’t check the weather and didn’t want to admit to calling it off. To me, it’s everything wrong with the 'gram’ fitness culture.

Yesterday morning I ran past a running race aid stop, not a couple of miles form @gingerbongo, this morning I ran past it again, 5km’s loop - 7 hours, turns out there’s one every day for the 7 days around NYD. Only about 15 on the course today. Ultra people are weird!

Is that on the cycle path between Ex and Bud? Or something else?

Yep, From the dip after Capel Lane down to where the foot path comes in down the hill was the lap.

That format is popular up on the Thames Path as well. My mate Jamie does a few of them. The only one similar I’ve done was a 6hr event doing a 7km loop of Greenham Common. I did 56km

Yeha they seem to run a few a year there. Always the same format.

They’re really low key, tiny numbers and attract a much more ‘casual’ runner I’d say - doesn’t tend to have any of the quicker, racey types.

UTMB is open for entries! I might stick an entry in the lottery for OCC.

What could possibly go wrong doing an ultra a month before an Ironman :man_shrugging: not expecting to get in but worth a punt.

Hello Jeff,

We are delighted to inform you that your pre-registration for the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc 2026 - OCC has been successfully completed!

Ha ha - I have a friend who did the Lakeland 100 a week before IM Austria - he was fine - I am sure you will be

Bloomin quick to get a response like that - no ballot?

Let me know if you want to discuss the course (you will of course have done a quite a bit of it on CCC)

That’s just registration for the ballot so no guarantee of a place, should get notified after 22nd and a smaller waiting list for anyone that changes their mind or doesn’t register in time.

I’m not expecting a place TBH but thanks for the offer if I do get lucky.

I’ll call it a last long run :joy: (walk\crawl\scramble!)

Good luck in the ballot Jeff.

Has anyone fixed holes in Salomon soft flasks?
I have a very small hole in one of mine, and feel like it should be fixable with a food safe equivalent of a puncture repair kit.

Nope - I seem to have about 8 flasks so if did get a hole would just bin it

You don’t usually drink from a tyre so would be slightly wary of what you use to repair?

Yeah, that’s my concern. I have four of them, somehow two have sprung a leak recently. It’s like a pin hole.
