Training - What Training?!

Spoons instead… nice ale or chilled cider.

Ying yang, I knew someone was getting back on their game, robbing my strength.

There is only so much :flexed_biceps: to go around.

On a more serious note, I hate training this time of year mainly because the hayfever. I can start to tolerate the heat (if not too humid) but not being able to breathe because hayfever is tough.

I used to think I peaked to early April / early May because I trained to hard in the winter, but then realised its much easier to train the end of Winter in to Spring (generally) and it is other facts that make the fitness drop off.

Usual CPD day in Hackney, so cycled in as it’s only 20 miles and mostly on the cycle paths.

Colleague from work tagged along, which meant I was soft pedalling the majority of the time in the front.

This might look okay on paper but its really poor when you look at the detail…

Cycled to work, couldnt face training… only 4.8km, what an ordeal… I remember why I dont normally or often

I don’t know how you’re getting so much done mate. I’m struggling to get out of bed with the tiny amount of sleep I’m getting.

Update
My last update was for the four months Jan. to Apr.26.

This update is for the two months of May & Jun.26…

Background – My last work contract ended 31/05/26 & I’m taking a break in June & July.
(There will be a LOT of posts on the DIY/Gardening thread shortly. )

Swim – Really good to be back in the pool. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
Anything over 10km is a Top 20 month for me since 2014.

Bike – This is the one area I’ve managed to keep ticking over.

Run – Still not great, but almost as much in 2 months as the previous 4!

Overall – Compared to the first six months of 2025, my previous job really impacted my swimming and running, so I will take where I am in that context.

Cheers, Paul.

Did my regular 12k run this morning, HR was about 20bpm higher (average and max) than when it’s cooler. It was even 10bpm higher today than it was on Wednesday, even though I was 10secs/km slower today than on Wednesday. I’m not built for hot weather.
