TT Smackdown 2025

Are we having a predicted time list?? Or will we be crowning King Sandbagger another way?

I assume you’re talking about Fruity. Man has Watts galore. Loves swimming and can bloody run as well.

@SidSnot is gonna kick all our arses though!

Some other dark horses on that list too.

@gingerbongo is this a thinly veiled attempt to deflect attention from the fact that you recently entered a marathon to keep a mate company, didn’t train much but basically rolled out of bed and still ran a 2h45 (or something crazy fast) plus now have a superbike, disc and aero lid?:hourglass:

It’s going to be fun, unfortunately I’m back at work Monday and it all seems to be going a bit thermonuclear at the mill, so am not anticipating an ideal run up to Cots. But still looking forward to it.

Oh but running is a different game. And I’ll have a lot of swim deficit to have to try to reduce.

Yeah I’m also gonna struggle with work, so will just have to tick on by, and do what I can. The race will be what the race will be.

@gingerbongo , we can all see how cray cray your life is at the moment. If I was you my ultimate goal would be be in a position to start the run comfortable enough to finish strongly with a smile.

Think that’s a very fair point @Doonhamer

New job, kids, and no bathroom must be a pretty tough phase. Perhaps @gingerbongo can be excused a little bit of sandbagging. A little bit.

I refer the honourable gentleman to Strava to check this morning’s easy jog by Mr Bongo :joy:

23km at better than 4m15 per km, ā€œrun/chatā€

That’s it. I’m ripping out my bathroom, clearly that’s the secret

The chats were stationery. Look at the elapsed time! :joy:

So a 23km intervals session then. Because that’s normal…

6 years ago today I did the classic? Swim was the driest part of the race, bike looked like I’d done a CX race and run was like a winter XC

I think GB was there as well!

Right, I’ve finally managed to drop my TT bike to the LBS. They’re mega busy, but my mate said he’d try his best to get it done this week for me. So no TT bike this week.

The guy who works there wasn’t very impressed when I explained the issue, as it’s a pig of a job. When my friend gets back to the shop tmw I’m hoping he’ll have a slightly more optimistic outlook! :joy: :man_facepalming:t3:

Was hoping to get out this Sat am for a TT practise, but i’m doubtful that that’ll happen now. I’m running out of days to test things out. Need to start thinking about nutrition and hydration strategy, what fits where on the bike etc. Got really bad cramps at the end of the run last year, so defof need more fluid on the bike.

I’m deffo down on last year, as haven’t been doing my weekly longer, hillier rides. So I think it’s gonna bite at the tail end of this tri, as I feel in pretty good aerobic shape. Just lacking that upper limit sort of stuff.

Just had to hook the Canyon up to the trainer, get that badboy set up again for a quick zwift at lunchtime. Probs should rode outside but I have this stupid fear of punctures ruining everything at the mo, and I only have a small work window to get it done, so can’t afford the faff.

Don’t over think it :+1:t3:

Coffee, banana, gel and bar for brekkie
Gel 20 mins before the swim

1000ml Maurten 160 and 500ml Zero Cal Electrolyte mix on the bike.
Maybe a caffeine gel if you’re feeling it

Run - water and coke.
Maybe a caffeine gel if you’re feeling it

Just put a little bit of fat on, do it all aerobically, and you’ll burn the fat instead, or at least that’s what I tell myself :joy::joy::joy:

Family plans have changed and now coming by myself. Not sure I fancy pitching my 8 man tent for 1 night for just me, so now need to find a small tent and actually book a pitch. Hotels are now extortionate so that’s out.

If I bring a tiny tent, could I just park up at the race on Sat night and sleep there?

No different to a camper in the field.

Could always jump in with one of us campers (need to 100 % check I’ve got access to my mate’s one) either to stay or just to fool the marshal and then pitch the mini tent in the gap between vehicles?

Hey TriTalk - I reckon @Jgav has just offered you all a free nights accommodation…if you help him pitch his tent :joy:

Ohh no. I’m a much more demanding machine than that. I’d flippin die!

Tent sourced.

Not looking to be cheeky and do something to annoy Grahame. If there’s space on a nearby site, I’m coming with a 2 man tent and a car.

Was going to book a campsite but realised I’d been looking at the wrong dates. Put the right dates in an a 1 bed annex appeared available 15 mins drive away for not much more than the campsite, so took that instead! I’ve gone posh…

Which campsite did you initially have in mind? I’m supposedly attending with 2x2man tents for me and the family and would like to be as local to race start as possible. (Not bringing the 8 man tent just for 2 nights)
