Whilst we are over analysing this race… What kind of stroke rate you all have for the swim??
Wife got some video footage at start, and the gimp without the wetsuit seems to have a much slower turnover.
Garmin suggests I start mid to high 30s for the opening minute or 2. But then drop to 30 or below for the next 10, assume when trying to get breathing under control.
Once settled it’s about 32.
Garmin gives my ave rate at 37…if thats to be trusted.
Or the Nazaret road that used to be in the Lanza course. If you werent bothered about your bike time you could stop and get a couple of Garmins, some Oakleys, plenty of water bottles
defo stop for Oakleys/Garmins.
Went down to the lake for a lunchtime dip and they were giving the stuff away. I have a box of >100 caffeine aqua Berry flavour gels.
And a foam High5 hand.
Average of 28, max of 39 for me
My time does include some breast stroking, and a stop to de-fog my goggles.
HR was 133bpm, but that can’t be trusted at all.
Didn’t even bother with a watch for the swim!
The one person with a slower turnover than you will be me. I am normally around 28-29 in teh pool according to my garmin. I don’t wear it often when swimming though. It doesn’t do OWS and I only really use it in the pool when doing constant steady swim or long reps.
@BadAsh could use that as a cycling glove whilst his hand is mahoosive!!
I saw the email
Deffo worth an extra nights stay next year
I’m off camera to the left
Did you start on the beach???
I think this might be me at the start but not sure. Once the actual swimming starts I am very much near the back and the far side of the group.
I was using that person in the bright orange wetsuit as a sighting aid for about 2/3 the swim!
Good to have you guys along yesterday, and nice to see TTalk represented adn Poet’s happy face again as it’s been too long (Shame there wasn’t a load of the old white and blue TT shirts from the good old days - I’ll have a dig around as I’m pretty sure I have one still from around 2008 when we all did IMUK Sherbourne in it’s last year there before it moved to the grim north)
@Jorgan the Classic V2 route is broadly similar to the eastern loop of the 226, so where we’d previous turned from Malmesbury to Tetbury, it’ll instead head back to Minety from there
It’s much more rolling than the 113 route, but has way less stoppy starty bits with turnarounds at roundabouts, and generally flows a lot better. I’ve ridden it a few times in the last few weeks and my time for that course is about the same as on the 113 course.
With regards to drafting, it was pretty bad yesterday as the hot weather pushed people to try and get good times. Also, our 113 course is terrible for Drafting just due to it’s nature - Where it has lots of out and back sections, people see others drafting and think it’s ok for them to do the same. On our course, you might see 50% of the rest of the field on what’s maybe 8-10 miles of out and back, whereas on a loop course (like the V2 will be next year) you only see anyone that either overtakes you, or you’re overtaking
Anyway, great to see a few of you yesterday and finally be back on TT again after all these years

If your day hasn’t gone the way you planned?!?
Why not.
I once bought a “ bundle of gels “ all in date. EBay
200 ish, guy was the last ish… cyclist through a rather large southern sportif.
He took boxes away from the last aid station as they were packing up, just happened to have a rucksack ?! Paid for his entry and some…
Thanks for having us.
I was bigging up your race to my triclub as the organisation and marshalling was fantastic. May well be back next year.
