Hoping for a good year. Last year I was happy to complete my one goal, which was to complete Cleveland Steelman in under 6 hours. This was revised down from 5.30 following a knee injury. I came in at 5.42 which I was pleased with. Given the amount of time I spent in transition, sub 5.30 should be within my reach. So
Steelman sub 5.30. Five minutes faster on both the run and bike, and 3 minutes less f**king about in transition should be plenty.
Half Marathon PB. Currently 1.57, so this should be a no sweat. Given the amount of cardio I do, I’ll be disappointed if I cant get below 1.50. ( my HM during Steelman 2021 was 1.58 and my average heartrate was 135bpm, so I’ve got plenty in the tank.
Improve my cycling strength. This is already ongoing. Have been doing strength work for 3 months along with bike power work. Would like to get my FTP up around 250watts, from 220 currently.
Get more conditioning work / yoga done. I’ve tried before and always lose interest and give up after a few weeks.
That’s a decent amount still I was just thinking of you saying quality over quantity and wondered how little one can get away with!
I think I averaged about 8h this year. Min 6h max 12h. I’m thinking about cutting it down a bit, but focus on decent sessions. A races are going to be standard and sprint distance which helps.
I do 3-4 hours of S&C each week so it all adds up my longest work out would be 3 hours on the bike in zone 2 just working on endurance and keeping up the miles. My run sets are no more than 50 mins long with an easy 90 mins on a Sunday
Sub 20 5k (20.03)
Sub 90 HM (1.32.02)
Not doing another mara this year, can’t take those long runs again.
Sub 5 at Cotswold Classic (best actually do some swimming)
If I can find the right races
23.30 10TT
1 hour 25TT
2h5 50TT
Should probably add in some non-time based ones
Get weight under 76kg (probably needed for the running time targets)
