2023 Weigh-in Thread

104.8kg & 33.4%
My temporary flu related weight loss has passed but left me with a persistent cough that I’m struggling to shift so haven’t been to the gym for 2 weeks now.
Hoping to start again tomorrow but expecting to be weak as a kitten.

Very true, but sadly mine has been rising slowly but steadily since 2020. Ironically, confusingly, I was getting faster as well despite body fat going up and muscle mass going down. 2021 was best performance and best/steadiest composition. 2022 was worst, ranging from 89.6kg to briefly 83. Best composition this year was the month after Ironman Frankfurt, down from 87 to a still well overweight 82kg.

Scales have me at 31.7% muscle, 37.1% body fat today for 85.2Kg. :man_shrugging:

Not been posting much as my weight hasn’t really moved, but got some good news today… I qualify for a Covid vaccine due to my BMI!

When the first tound of vaccines came out I was called by the doctors as I was priorityy. Assume that was because Im a fat fuck, although not sure the last time I was weighed at the quacks.

I went in for my 5 yearly bp check a few weeks ago and got weighed then. I had heavy shoes on which made it worse. I don’t have any other underlying conditions (yet) so wasn’t expecting one. I’ve had my notes mixed up by the GP before with an older patient with the same name.

There’s another Mr Iain Cognito at your doctors clinic? Wait a minute…what kind of clinic is this?

I recently read that 2% of USAians already have a prescription for it (they’re not taking it as there’s not enough apparently!) So if there is a downside…

85.5 for me this morning. Heading in the right direction :crossed_fingers:

79.8kg yesterday morning, which was the first day back on 16-8 diet. With the XC season starting soon I need all the help I can get.

Aim is to get to somewhere close to 76kg.

Only about 45 minutes until I can eat :grinning:

Life is too complex to check what time I/m eating.

Has anyone tried a diet plan, like just the same thing every fucking day to see if anything makes any difference?

AM Coffee, toast, peanut butter
Lunch Steak, chips, peas
PM soup, tears

Yes and after a couple of days its fucking miserable.

When I want to make a big kick into weight loss I skip breakfast chicken salad for lunch and then usually grilled chicken, green veg and maybe some rice for tea, hot sauce for flavour.

Best thing is to work out a couple of lunches / dinners that mest the calories goals and cycle them over a few days.

Remember reading a blog article by someone who did that. Actually think it was MrMoneyMustache. Seemed quite an engineery thing to do.

The reasoning was that as well as ensuring a planned , balanced and healthy mix of nutrients, it frees up headspace and time because there is no need to think about what to buy or prepare. It’s exactly the same every day. Seem to remember avocados featured quite heavily in his diet

I’m currently having exactly the same thing for lunch every day: a pita stuffed with tomato, onion, cheese, lettuce and chilli sauce. The pitas keep well in the freezer. once assembled and wrapped in cling film, the pita fits nicely in bike jersey back pocket.

Got back to the gym last week but still not 100% & getting a bit short of breath on the harder exercises (more than usual anyway).
Diet wasn’t great, got into that “I’m back training so can eat what I like” mindset which clearly doesn’t work, especially if doing no cardio.
Try and get back to my 10k steps and gym 5 times routine now well enough.

An easier place to start would be to look at making some lower cal option swaps, see video below. Eg coke to zero, chicken thighs to breast, full fat milk to semi or skimmed, etc. Also cutting down on the booze would help!

He posts some good content regarding this.

I have porridge for breakfast nearly every day & tuna on toast for lunch about 50% of the time. Does that count?

75.5 kg. I am hoping its just creatine water weight gain as I definitely haven’t been eating enough to have gained an extra kg in 2 weeks. Heaviest I’ve been I think! Will probably stop the creatine come mid Jan (unless I keep gaining weight!) as I don’t fancy lugging the extra weight up them Rwandan hills!

I’m hoping to see 84.xx soon. I have not seen that number since before lockdown!

Had a decent week with 5 gym sessions & a bit of cardio (punchbag & bike commute) so hoping weight gain is down to the Creatine I started on last week as diet didn’t seem too bad either.
