2024/2025 weigh in thread

Stayed flat at 113.1kg. Given the amount of sweets, chocolate and cheese and pickle sandwiches ive had this week cant be too disheartened

Had a cold most of the week so didn’t do any training until a couple of weights sessions at the weekend. Cold as good as gone now so hoping for a bit more productive week.

Pretty interesting video. Looks horrible, and running with 20 kg can’t be good for your back, 19:16 for a 5km run with 20kg weight vest really demonstrates how fit Joe is.

When I used to do speed sailing, I had a 10kg weight vest… horrible thing, but certainly helped me to sail faster

72.7 this morning - first time under the 73 mark this year but conscious that goes up and down in the course of a week

I’ll take it though

Luckily the rule was that a 10kg weight vest had to have min 10kg buoyancy

72.2!
Heaviest for some time
But yesterday was my best running effort for some time?! So I’m quite happy with we’re I’m at.
I’m much more concerned with the sled push/ pull on Saturday than how fast I can run as this has improved of late.

wonder what it would be like to run 5km in a helium or hydrogen vest. If you could somehow stop it adding extra drag, might you go faster?

Down to 97.9kg this morning (from 103kg in Oct) so happy with that. Did a 10 Mile race yesterday so I’m hoping it not all dehydration etc…

You’ve sent me down a rabbit hole now, where they ask what is weighs more an empty balloon or a helium filled balloon?

aaaaahh that’s a brain twister

I guess it must be the balloon+ the helium, right? Because helium weighs something, and [a balloon + something] weighs more than [a balloon + nothing]?

But the balloon inflated with helium will displace some air, and that air weighs more than the helium. So [the empty balloon plus the air that is about to get displaced] weighs more than [the balloon + the helium] :man_shrugging:t2:

I’m thinking that there’s probably no way you’d be faster in a helium fat-suit, because of the weight of the suit and the extra drag. But say you could make it shaped like an aero egg, and made of something super light and strong like maybe graphene :man_shrugging:t2::man_shrugging:t2:

Weirdly weighed in at 71.9kgs this morning. Which is over 2kgs drop from a week or so ago.

I think a) I probably have a fair bit of water fluctuation etc going in, even though I always weigh in the morning before breakfast and b) my scales are pretty ancient with the battery held in place by some cardboard and tape, so I’m guessing they’re not the most accurate either.

Shame as they’ve always appeared to be reasonably consistent. I’m not buying more though.

Hmm, so backed it up with another weigh-in today and i was 71.1kgs. Ran last night and woke a little dehydrated, so that would stand up against yesterday’s. I’m starting to think that the high 73 reading a short while ago was the odd one. I did wonder how i could have suddenly jumped up.

Or maybe this part time 16:8 thing, which is stopping me from evening snacking at least 4 times a week, and delaying and cutting down on breakfast is having an effect? Interesting nonetheless.

When I get an unexpected jump or lower reading I tend to ignore it and wait for 2 consistent readings. Hydration, glycogen and hence water in muscles, how a big a shit you had that day can add up to a couple of kilos either way.

Mine is holding fast still. Feel like this tiredness is lifting now so time to start ramping exercise. I know people say you lose weight in the kitchen etc but I always do better when I ramp the activity levels so thats what im going to do

I was 69kg once :sob::sob:

I was 92.4kg clothed yesterday.
It was just over 100kg at my last hospital appointment.

85.3 this morning so headed in the right direction. Thought I’d weigh in today as I’m off to the pub this evening (will ‘only’ have two or three pints).

Drinking much more water lately rather than low calorie soft drinks in the evening. I used to have a beer almost every day (often a Fosters so that doesn’t really count) but happy at the moment with just a water or maybe the odd diet coke.

Having the odd bit of chocolate/crisps but nowhere near what I would normally have (or what was being consumed in December).

I’m almost happily having 50g of porridge for breakfast daily rather than closer to 100g which is what I used to have.

Exercise has increased slightly over the last few weeks as well but I’m not able to push myself particularly hard due to a lingering knee issue.
