Yeah,

I’ve read too many post, I was joking.

I looked to see if the Leeds route was released, and saw that Bolton and Swansea entries got priority into Leeds.

Swansea is a great course IMO.

Easy swim :man_swimming: (no Jellyfish this year, loads the previous 2 apparently :flushed:), but if you are a swimmer could get a nice gap.

Bike is hard, either 2023 or 2024. Imo the 2024 route is better as less chance of others affecting your race.

Nice flat run, but can be into and out of the wind, couple of tight turn arounds and changes of direction but very fast run :man_running:.

In two minds to do it again or in 2026. If it was a touch cheaper I’d defo do it in 2025.

I have kind of committed to a holiday the end of June so that would mess up prep.

Same.

Great event and venue, silly prices, IM in general.

Non IM events for me next year.

If money was no object I’d do a half ever month, some as training event others as A’s

You’re doing very well for a Bot, even managed to get an 8 year old plotaroute account in a plausible name! AI really is coming on.

@gingerbongo , what are your logistics for the NC110 mile, do you have to drive to Minehead and get the bus to Cornwall? Are you driving home at the end?

Cornwall?! Was your mouth out young man. We don’t venture over there! :joy: :joy:

Not 100% sure yet, but yes that’ll most likely be the case. One of the kids has a bday party on the Sat so it’s going to be hard for Mrs GB to make it up there when I’ve no real idea when I’ll finish!

Doesn’t the race start in Cornwall? I have no idea why I put this in the 2025 thread🤦‍♂️
Mods can you move it?

Managed to get lucky in the Brass Monkey half ballot so have that on 19th January as well now.

Nice Brass Monkey was my first half marathon just after my uni days back in 2008. Ran 1:21 as a relative noob to running but took me best part of about 5 years to beat it!

That’s rapid! It’s a strange course but usually quick. I managed 1:24 about 8 years ago I think  that ain’t happening again though :joy:

Not sure if its been posted or discussed?

Hopefully it’ll bump numbers for the smaller organisers, but it’s the weekend I’m in Copenhagen.

Yeah I haven’t got near that in the last few years :joy: not that I’m a frequent racer

Hmmm, so I’ve just spent the last 20 mins looking at Lakesman as a potential 2025 race. For those who have done it what did you think of the race? The bike looks a little lumpy which I guess is to be expected and the road surface maybe is not so great? That said looks like a fab location and if you could get accommodation in Keswick it would be an ace weekend

Damn it, always forget to get in for that one.

I thought it was reasonably quick? But not like Elsinore or a couple of other Euro races?

I suppose I’m going on the the bike elevation and the results from last year. Still tempted though as its one of my favourite parts of the country

I did the half this year. It’s a great race and a great event generally.
The bike isn’t flat (I had 2600ft elevation) but it’s pretty rapid - I hit 24mph avg.
I’d definitely recommend it and hope to be back there next year too.

I did it and finished so it can’t be that difficult

Bike is good and quite quick with decent (non-closed) roads. Only a couple of ‘proper’ short sharp climbs but a nice break from the flatt(ish) main roads. A few undulating bits of country road but the surface was fine (or far better than these parts anyway) and easy enough to settle into a rhythm.

Run was a bit tricky as it was fairly dull with you going up and down the same long road four times before heading back into town and the rugby club to get your band.

Swim straightforward and lovely round the island.

Would recommend it and a course you could get a good time on I suspect if you are a proper racer (unlike me). Longish trek from the swim exit to T1 to manage.

Extremely well organised and decently supported.
