I am sure @Hammerer would coach the tritalk Lanzarote training camp.
There’s a head of steam building up here… TT smackdown at Lanza??
Much as I’d love to enter 2027, I just don’t think it’s realistic with all the stupid other non tri stuff I’m committed to over the next year.
Although, you only live once and this crazy talk really is getting the juices flowing ![]()

You could hand out sangria on the run course ![]()
I need to run again, and be able to cycle at over 150 watts for more than 10 minutes
but really fancy one last hurrah…It could fit in with training for National OW champs next year (which would be a real tasty goal if I stay fit unlike last year) but yer not sure where I’ll get any time. Im also considering giving up club coaching for a while as what with work and college and dad cabs, that’s just a headache I don’t need, especially considering most of the kids don’t even want to be there.
Yep, that’d be the general plan. I’ve been riding mtb quite a bit these last few winters. I can quite happily do 3hrs on the mtb even when it’s cold and much prefer that to 3hrs on the turbo.
You considering Lanza too Chris?
Before Kona I used to sit on the turbo in the garage with a heater on doing 4x20 mins. That was brutal but seemed to help. Not sure if I could bring myself to do that again tho.
Nice, the number of ‘possibles’ is building
so if… IF… I was to consider entering Lanza 27, which is the stuff of madness, and I probably won’t… it’s in term time which means I’d be travelling solo because Mrs FT can only take school holidays.
And a solo race can be a lonely experience. Did AG sprint worlds in Budapest like that and it sucked.
Is there any appetite for a shared TriTalk accomodation/ road trip?
I’m just taking theoretically here, because it’s clearly the stuff of madness anyway
Think I’d be happy to finish alive, 13 hours would be a stretch goal
The term time thing also means that I’m going without the family. I’m going to be staying with some guys I train with who are also going. However, not having the family in tow will mean I’ll be more available to meet up with others than I would be otherwise.
