255 Triathlon - the longest single-day triathlon in the world. August 2021

Quite a lot of people actually do a double in under 24hrs as well.

But is it COVID safe?

…and will they provide branded facemasks in goodie bags?

I like that idea. Could do a brilliant one in Switzerland.

10km swim from one end of the Zugersee to the other
200km bike - start Zug around Zugersee, over towards Lake Lucerne, Over Klausen Pass, through Glarus, Back towards Zurich, round the Zurichsee, back to Zug (not that hilly except for one mountain pass)
76km run, 2 laps of Zugersee

Bike needs to be longer or I will be the longest  But that would be some course.

here’s an idea - called it The Longest Day or something… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Do it in October like that RedBull race then you can have a 25 hour cut-off but still a single day.

3 Countries: Swim Germany, Cycle Switzerland, Run Italy

Start by swimming from Germany, accross Lake Konstanz
Cycle from North of Switzerland to Lugano in Southern Switzerland to the Italian border 284km
Run Lugano to Menagio (Lake Como) Down to Como (around 80km)

It would be utterly epic and totally mad. This bike route in Switzerland is pretty flat

That is sounding epic.

Get it done Matt!

Just to stick 2 fingers up at the organisers of the 255 Triathlon

Swim 4 hours
Bike 11 hours
Run 9 hours
Not much wiggle room there

If only someone could come up with a snappy name where those countries had worked quite closely together in the past, Axisman?

Brilliant name… but I don’t think that would be remotely politically correct

Anyway I have done some more research
Meersberg to Konstanz is 5km swim https://www.bodensee-openwater.com/
Konstanz to Lugano is 290km with 4,000m, just one big climb over Gotthard Pass (But it is very big and cobbled, one of the Alps most iconic climbs)
Lugano to Como is 60km with 1,800m

Swim, 2 hours
Bike I think will be 12 hours for a good rider
Run 8 hours

OK, who would be up for it? I am sure I can sort out support

This escalated quickly

Surely end of March, so you can tell the IMJers they missed the cut-off at 23.01

IMJers would never sign up with a 5km swim!!

I know you’ll say I’m bias but… If you’re making the bike 290km and the run 60km with elevation then swim should be there and back to be 10km.

Edit to add: It almost sounds like that’s what’s stopping me agreeing with the idea :sweat_smile:
