I had a very high (for me) run volume week last week and I only managed 30 mins on the bike. With work stress and time, I was wondering if it might be an idea to do something like:
One week large volume running plus strength sessions and not worry about bike at all.
Next week, dial back the run volume (50-60%) and allow time for some bike?
My logic is that I don’t deal with stress that well when it comes in more than one direction but I want to keep some riding for cross training and variety. I know I have some run goals next year, so volume will still need to be significant but mentally, it seems easier to deal with.
I’m not saying the numbers will stay static and I will definitely back off every 4wks but as general strategy, whaddya think?
