I could believe Sastre too. He kind of nipped in while all the other contenders where watching each other. By the time they realised how far he had gone it was too late.

IIRC on the lower slopes of lā€™Alpe he passed the break including one guy zigzagging across the rode as he canā€™t ride up the road normally. A guy called Froome, what a climber he was :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I think heā€™s on the wrong side of history here - the fact his sport hasnā€™t been ruined by cheating is a good thing. Obsession with breaking records over winning is what drives the extremes of cheating.

I think itā€™s as shallow as how many kids grow up training and dreaming of doing an odd hopping and skipping jump sport, the sort who may be good at it would be sprinters who arenā€™t cutting it as sprinters. Also doubt thereā€™s much money in it; few invites to diamond league as an also ran 100m runner will probably put more in your account than Olympic Gold and WR in what really is an obscure event
