Big improvement from 2:10 in November to now. Conditions supported maybe but that is a chunk of time off for him.
It must have been good conditions yesterday, as it’s not a fast course but the winner ran sub 2:02. Maybe a tailwind.

Aren’t Boston times invalid for official records because of the point to point nature? It was a perfect tailwind apparently, hence times across the board being rapid.
I thought it looked quick, people doing 2:55 and barely getting in the top 5000 I think.
I think you’re correct about it not counting as a WR with being a point to point.
Heard an analysis showing that at the true men’s elite level it was by far the quickest ever, something like more people under 2:05 and 2:08 this year then there had been in entire history combined.
Nearly all big marathons are point to point though aren’t they? Think Boston is a special case because it is net down hill, although the hills near the end cancel out much of the benefit for most people.

Start and finish must not exceed 50% of the distance.
