Top man @Poet that cassette is sparkling
You’ve done all the hard work with that chain now. Just a quick wipe and bung it back in the cooker in 3/400 kms time

Only two more bikes to do
Each with two cassettes, two chains and two cranksets
That’s about 8 hours work
So a fucking weeks riding???
You can go longer. Just rewax when it starts to make a bit of noise.
I’ve been on top of my 3 though. Do tend to do them between 3/400. All 3 chains still look brand new and no where near the wear limit
And you won’t have to do your cassettes again anytime soon!
What brand of quick link do you use?
And do you have the special pliers to release them?
I can sort of get the KMC ones off, nearly ripped
My hand off trying to get a Shimano one off
I’ve got a pair of park tool pliers for the quick link.
Bought a job lot of quick links from Amazon that are really good. The link on my winter bike I must have removed 10 times or so and it’s still good.
I’ll find the link
shouldn’t it be on your bike?
no point keeping it there when it’s so easy to remove and put back!
Sweet cheeses!!!
After 87km on the grimiest Cheshire roads in constant drizzle and many a farm tractor mud run, my cassette now looks like this again (this was just a light hosepipe down)
Bike has had a quick sponge, nothing too long.
(Also, well aware the wall needs repainting and the patio needs jetwashing, so shush)
So this is post wax right?
Yup
You’ll never go back now
That’s the point, chain doesn’t attract the grime an oiled one does. You can put a dropped chain back on without getting hands covered in oil.
My wife is out for a run so will hang the chain up in the house so more wax drains off
Can you all stop posting about this stuff…
It’s all far too impressive, feeling like I need to get on board but there’s way to many things for me to f#@k up.
And more cr@p to buy
£13 Ultrasonic cleaner from Lidl
£13 slow cooker from Lidl
£13 pack of wax pellets
£2 degreaser
£4 white spirit
£2 methylated spirit
Less than £50 all in.
My Muc-Off nano-lube oil is £13 for a tiny thing.
Then the cleaning and faff of the chain etc.
I now have a park tool chain cleaning tool I’m never using again
f**k sake… right pliers for the quick link just ordered as that always annoys me.
How big does this ultrasonic cleaner need to be? I CBA to go to a shop - so it will be online purchase? Anyone got any links for ones they’ve had??
Good man, they make life very quick.
I did my chain yesterday, actual time needed by me was approx. 4 mins.
