I thought you had a niggle, had a similar sore calf pulling into my foot.

Done some eye watering massaging of my soleus and it seems to be working, maybe similar?

TT bike though tomorrow

That’s fixable for a ride or two. Remove one side of tyre and boot it with a bit of old tyre or other tough rubber. Maybe a bit of super glue thrown in. Maybe run it at a lower pressure than normal. I’d ride it until a replacement tyre arrived in post. But you takes yer chances…

I was thinking swimming, what were you thinking?

Just warming up mate, nothing wrong with that.

TPU tubes.

Worth it or not?

Or are they emperor’s new clothes (beyond having a really tiny spare).

I’m on the fence, in principle they are good but I’ve had a couple of occasions where the valve wasn’t attached to the tube well enough & I’ve read about this elsewhere too. Maybe not a problem if you buy a proper Tubolito for big $ but then its big :heavy_dollar_sign::man_shrugging:.
Right now I wouldn’t want to risk a PU tube being my only spare.

I think the big advantage is a spare for gravel or MTB where the normal tubes are much bigger. For a road spare, a normal conti racelight is pretty small.

Man, now even tyres are crazy expensive! And there’s so much choice.

I’m going to be brave and ask the question here, despite knowing the fact that you will all have strong views that will all clash with each other!

Have GP5000s on the Canyon at the mo, and have done so for a while. When i was commuting i bought some of those Panaracer ones, but had a bad run of punctures so have a sub-conscious hatred for them now.

Anything that has a decent crr, decent enough grip and puncture protection and doesn’t break your fingers trying to get them on the frickin wheel!

Seems like you have the Schwalbe One Pro, Vittoria Corsa, Pirelli Cinturato Velo,- all are generally over £50 ea. TBH the Conti’s surprisingly are at the ‘cheaper’ end at £45 on Merlin.

eta - actually the 28s are 50 quid. dammit.

GP5000S are awesome :white_check_mark:
I’ve got them with latex tubes on my Zipps, no issues. Also got them on my TT bike training wheels.

I’ve got some Pirelli P-Zero’s too. They be okay, set up as tubeless so don’t know about punctures.

But, yeah, tyres are crazy money now.
I paid £90 for a set of gravel tyres last month.

Yeah i think as they’re all in that ballpark, price wise, i may just stick with what i know and replace both front and rear with some new 5000s. They’ve been no worse than any other tyre i’ve had so far from a puncture perspective, and they still roll ok. Think i have one butyl and one latex inner in there at the mo  Probs was just whatever i had when i last flatted/

Check out my nightmare on the gravel thread for some maintenance woes :triumph::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

£135 to replace an £18 headset :money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings:

GP5000’s are a great compromise as an all rounder. There are occasionally significant savings on price (I bought a pair last time @Poet posted it up), it really is worth having a couple of these as spares for when you will inevitably need them so you don’t get stung with full RRP.

Be interesting to see the pricing on these:

Is there any reason why my front mech won’t shift from the big ring to small when I’m out on my bike (it is moving, but doesn’t seem to be moving far enough to knock the chain down), but when after puffing up a couple of hills in the big ring and making it home and putting my bike on the stand, it shifts between the rings absolutely fine?

Kick it with your heel as you pedal.

That always works for me :white_check_mark:

Shifting up is fine. Always down that’s the issue.
