Commonwealth Games 2022

that works where there’s only 2, now add a 3rd person, a teammate of one of the others especially, completely different if Yee needs to mark two people, one of who he’s actually already beaten 'cos they’re supposed to be in a penalty tent

The perspective is that the lady from the Solomon Islands is about the same speed as me.

Who won?

This 1000m tandem racing is fun to watch

Odd tactics by NZ in the team pursuit to drop a rider in the first lap :man_shrugging:

just said their usual rider is injured so someone in just to make up numbers for the start. Shame for the spectacle but they still deserved to be in the final as they did that earlier also

Brilliant from the Kiwis

funding was very poor at the time and whilst she didn’t ever top the rankings, she was consistently successful particularly across europe whilst several of the female funded athletes were fighting demons…

that rule has been relaxed for the CG - it’s the Friendly Games where it’s more about participation than being dead strict on rules, so no lapping out on the bike.

Just happened to drop into BBC coverage to see what’s on, David Weir leading the wheelchair marathon. Sitting in awe of these guys, how can you do that for 26 miles. Arms must be screaming, incredible stuff.

Punctured with no spare. :slightly_frowning_face:

If he could fix it I’d think it would probably take him out of the medals anyway unfortunately

The women’s race is a bit of a farce, only 4 competitors so they’re only giving 2 medals and the leader looks like she’s on a sightseeing tour of Birmingham, hasn’t broken into a sweat.

Tani Grey-Thompson commentating, said they have to fix the punctures themselves so have a choice of trying to do it whilst still in the chair (I can’t imagine how you’d do that) or drag themselves out, fix it, then get back in again.
If you’re in it for medals it’s game over either way so a lot don’t bother with spares.

I’m guessing they don’t have tubeless, sealant, plugs etc. that would sort it, maybe they’re on good old tubulars. Real shame for the guy, must be gutted.

It’s Adam Peaty I’m more worried about, did the lifeguard have to fish him out after his puncture
