Swimming Pool.
That para 100mtrs was brilliant, check out that smile before she crosses the line ![]()
Go Peaty, pleased he got that 50 won finally.
Yeah and good to hear he addressed his comments yesterday.
Imagine being at “the lowest of the low” after one second place in 8 years.
Good job he never had a career threating injury or anything!
Is that how the Wurzels say it?
That’s how the Aussies say it. The Wurzels would call it a sheep dip.
I think in the interest of fairness, Kenya and Uganda should leave the commonwealth, at least in time for the 10000m. They can rejoin after. These guys are so effortless on the track.
wow that was some finish!
Book i mentioned on the watcha reading thread was all about that. I thought it was an excellent read with lots of different case studies.
Oh no the insufferable peaty is back on the podium ![]()
So two people tie for silver, nobody gets a bronze?
Mixed medley relay was a good race, with different orders of swimmers in different teams
Catching up on the swimming; heartache in the mens 200m backstroke surely.
This is a no spoiler thread, right?
The medley would be better if you could mix up the order of the strokes as well,
backstroke would still have to go 1st as it’s an in water start - but the rest, yeh, mix ‘em up!
Commonwealth Games always makes me wish I had some distant family links to one of the very small countries. Must be quite fun being a very much recreational, say, badminton player, and getting to go compete at something like this by virtue of being one of only 3 people on your island who owns a racket.
I must have a relative in the Soloman Islands
Maybe there are spaces for swim and tri coaches in a minor nation, that would be equally cool with no qualification required ![]()
some of the smaller nations put their heart and soul into the triathlon events. some of the bikes were, shall we say, not state of the art; one athlete rode hers without SPDs as she had never used them; a number didn’t have wetsuits as they’re not needed where they live (many complained that the water was too cold - it was just under 20C) but they all gave it their best shot.
and this is how the last female athlete in the individual event was greeted - seen over the line by a large number of TOs and volunteers.
Don’t even have to be Commonwealth, they have their own games now:
I knew someone who had a link to one of the Scottish Islands and won a gold. He was hailed as a hero, despite not living there.
